Great for my club

The features to show data and analytics from golfers at my club are great. I love being able to see some of the good rounds for people at my home course that I would’ve otherwise not known about

The worst

It’s not the easiest to use. But that’s not the worst part, signing in is impossible. You need to put in your GHIN number, email, and password every time and that doesn’t work over half the time. It gives you a message that something went wrong and to try later.

Fascinating analytics

Love reviewing my own stats, particularly competition performances, as well as other players at my home course, getting to congratulate them on great rounds when they happen.

Always loading…

This app never loads. It is the most unstable app I’ve had. It doesn’t show recent hot rounds, the tournaments shown are three months old, and their data points could use better defining across the app.

Terrible app

Very buggy. Rarely works not to mention the concept. Also needs more explanation as to how they arrive at their assessment of your index.

Unreliable

This app doesn’t work on a regular basis. Disappointment.

USGA Bans Cap Patrol Handicap Adjustments

As of January 1, the USGA officially prohibits golf clubs and handicap committees from using Cap Patrol or similar third-party apps to adjust handicap indexes. This policy highlights the redundancy and unnecessary strictness introduced by Cap Patrol, a for-profit service designed primarily to generate substantial revenue from country clubs rather than benefiting golfers directly.

The USGA’s GHIN system already effectively identifies and adjusts for significant variations in golfers’ performance, maintaining fairness and integrity. Cap Patrol, to remain relevant and justify its high fees charged to clubs, necessarily implemented overly stringent algorithms beyond what GHIN provides. This approach risks unfairly penalizing golfers under the guise of improved oversight.

Ultimately, Cap Patrol prioritizes financial gain from country club subscriptions over genuine golfer interests, providing minimal additional value compared to the established USGA GHIN handicap adjustments.

Excited to see the future!

Really enjoying using this with my buddies! I can’t wait to see what else they do with it.

This new version is the one to get…

Can’t create an account

Pretty awful that an app designed to monitor our handicaps can’t even be logged into.

Terrible program

Registered as course is implementing but errored on registration. Tried again but now my email userid is taken, try to log in and asks for GHiN and then just stalls out, try to reset password and no email comes. Worst program EVER!

App still doesn’t work

App doesn’t let you log in. After reading other reviews, here we are 4 years later still with a non functioning app. Worst functioning app I’ve ever experienced.

The worst app

Unfortunately our club is going to this app. If any other clubs are considering it, don’t, read the reviews and believe the warnings. It is impossible to even set up a sign in to begin. If an app can’t even do the easy things like sign in, I can only imagine how bad the rest of the app is. Stay away.

Information clubs are using from this app, questionable

This program is pretty much a mirror of GHIN , that your club already pays for. The mistakes made trying to adjust the persons GHIN needs to be reviewed carefully by the clubs purchasing this program. Our club had specific golfers that the handicap committee thought would be picked out by cap , but they weren’t. The handicap system has all the tools to “catch “ all your “ sandbags and cheaters”, if the handicap committee would just have the guts to implement them.

Version 1.1.12 is Broken

Version 1.1.12 is broken. App hangs and then CTDs. Worked well until the recent update.

Horrible

Don’t walk, run from this program. This is the worst program I’ve ever seen. Someone mistakenly thought they knew better than GHIN but missed by a mile. This program will do nothing but make members angry when they are penalized with no explanation of why. I have personally seen the miscalculations of my handicap. I’ve spoken with representatives of GHIN who were also frustrated with this app when presented with unfathomable drops in handicap indexes. My problem was made even worse when the pros of my club decided to take the ridiculous recommendation from cap patrol and manually input it as much GHIN handicap index. The GHIN reps informed me that this was not appropriate but, unfortunately, I still can’t undo the damage that was done to my low HI.

If your club is considering implementing cap patrol, make sure they do their research before they make a horrible mistake. Its great in theory but a broken system.

Can’t log in

Been unable to log in, saying my GHIN number is incorrect but it is not

Good idea, but GARBAGE

To be clear, this could be a good app for rooting out real sandbaggers. The problem with this app is you have a private citizen who developed the software, sold this app for profit to country clubs. However, he thinks he knows more than the USGA and GHIN system. But the truth is this guy is greedy, arrogant and a piece of you know what. Basically, I had an injury and went from a 5 handicap to a 10 handicap over the course of 18 months, so it was not a precipitous change. That was too much for Cap Patrol! I haven't shot a low round in more than a year. Yet somehow my handicap was suddenly docked 2 strokes because 18 months ago I was playing better. I never won a tournament, I never even shot below my handicap in a tournament. Ever. I post my scores consistently. I try every time in casual rounds (money games) and tournaments. So, this guys App did not find a sandbagger he merely thinks he's smarter than GHIN system. And by the way the GHIN system accounts for all of these things already. They will restrict or lower your handicap or do other anti-sandbagger protections. Avoid this app like the plague. But more than that complain to your local pro shop who is using this garbage app. And don't waste your time trying to contact Cap Patrol because they WILL NOT RESPOND. Super scummy organization

No longer supported?

I just downloaded the app and set up an account. Every time I try to register my GHIN the app crashes. According to other reviews this looks like it’s been happening for a long time. Disappointed to say the least.

Does not recognize my GHIN?

Sounds like a great concept! I can’t comment on how it works, since it has never recognized my GHIN so I can’t actually get into the app. You would think that the developers would have fixed this by now.
