Account creation is impossible
First off. ByteMark is a horrible and evil company that has attempted to sue other transit companies because they submitted a weak patent on “visual tickets”. Luckily they lost in court but that does stop them from grifting this app onto cities for many contracted years Second, account creation is not possible at the time of writing this. Nice work by your QA department ByteMark, and the lack of automated testing. Second, password reset also prompts an error that you should have to contact customer support, even Thoth the change actually works. Y’all are such an embarrassment in the public transit technology space. I hope that CapMetro sees this eventually and moves everything to Transit App just like Denver and other cities.

Can this app be any worse?
The consistency of the app is god awful. Somtimes, a bus will come 10+ minutes early, but on the app it still says it's "on schedule". You should not have to show up to a bus stop 15 minutes before the bus's supposed arrival time just because this god forsaken app can't update to real time. Also, sometimes buses will come that aren't even on the app. Make it better.

Not for older phones
If you have anything below the new apple OS don’t get this app. It’ll just crash constantly and work maybe one out of 40 times you open it. I’ve lost multiple day passes and one week pass to the app not opening for me. Decided to just uninstall and take the loss. Never using this app again.
trip planner unreliable; LGBTQIA2+ clinics unlisted
this app is okay when it works. it’s nice to be able to buy tickets, view schedules/routes, and see mostly accurate live bus movements. i’m glad for the cashless, contactless options. the QR tickets scan on the bus maybe half the time, though that may be a scanner machine problem. but the very basic, essential trip planner feature is terribly inconsistent and quite frequently doesn’t give me “bus only” results - even when the start is a bus stop/depot, the destination auto-populates by name, the walking distance/transfer/etc parameters are maxed, and my trip is within them. i have learned to use apple maps for planning, which never has these issues. it’s incredibly frustrating and time-consuming trying to get it to work so i can save/quickly view/follow a trip (and busing already takes usually 2-3x longer than driving). these issues aside, public transport is already very taxing for me as i am disabled. additionally, NONE of the KIND clinics auto-populate, which means that other LGBTQIA2+ who rely on bus and this app may not be able to access their healthcare.

Not accessible for the blind?
When using the latest app version with voiceover, you are not able to purchase tickets independently because everything is not being read with assistive technology. This is laughable since I am a disabled person trying to purchase a ticket to allow me to write paratransit… I was able to do this before

App problems
Ever since the update I haven’t been able to use any of the tickets I bought because they all say they are invalid really frustrating how this never happened till the update
Much less accurate after update
I can put in addresses and the app will show that there isn’t a route available—but Google Maps will show the available routes AND their departure/arrival times. Why is Google more useful than your own app? People who can’t drive are depending on the buses and need accurate info to plan their business. FIX THIS.

Tickets glitch and bus drivers get mad at me :(
Lots of positive about the app. Payments are easy and fast, purchasing the tickets is simple, and saving money on a week’s or month’s worth of tickets in one is fantastic. Plus, seeing 95% accurate arrival updates is great.
However, the whole reason I use this app is to ride the bus. And when the tickets glitch (it’s supposed to open to show a blue screen if the ticket is active) that makes me stressed out every time I wanna ride. And mostly bus drivers don’t care, but every now and then they think I’m trying to bypass the system with an old ticket or something. So I feel skeevy when I actually paid for the ticket and am trying to do the best I can to prove that the ticket is real. If I didn’t rely on the bus so often, and had cash on hand more often, I wouldn’t use this ticket function. But, this is where I am. I’ve reinstalled the app multiple times and it’s the same thing.

A lot of bugs in this app
Everytime I buy a 30 day pass it will only work for a few days and then the ticket will no longer open. I contacted cap metro and all they had to say was that the drivers were allowed to charge me extra fare. I’m not sure why it’s so hard for them to just look at the expiration date on the ticket just like they would if a paper ticket won’t scan. But instead they just want to charge me again. Fix the bugs or at least update your drivers on how to look at the expiration date which is right on the front screen before opening the ticket.

TICKET WONT OPEN
Its been happening for the last 3 months but my tocket wont open when i click it. It louds but never pulls up my boarding pass. I have called to have it fixed and even went to the metro store and they have fixed it but then a day or 2 days later it does it again. This is bad since i feel like im wasting $11 every other week

App Takes “Forever” to Open
This app should not take up to 30 seconds for me to open it and access my ticket. This is especially awkward when the bus has arrived before I have had time to go through the belabored routine to do so. The app’s splash screen appears for at least 15 seconds. Switching to other pages takes too long. Re-design and optimize this thing, will ya?

Would be great if it worked
When it actually runs, the new update is great. I like the new design, it’s more attractive and intuitive. Unfortunately, since the update, it crashes ALL THE TIME. I’m in a rideshare right now because once again I could not get the app to load without crashing so I could buy and use a ticket. Please sort this out, I depend on cap metro and on the app to use it.

This app used to work great
App used to work greats around the time they changed the bus routes and all that back in like June or July I think, stopped using the bus as much and now that I’m trying to spend my money wiser I have decided to take the bus again. Revisiting the ol’ cap metro app and every time I try and open it it force closes. Realized I needed to update my software so did that and the app opened up once and from then on every time I try to open it it goes to the loading screen and then force closes. Now I have to pay cash like a caveman. The app is not faster easier and better it actually just doesn’t work. Please fix it.

Functional but crash-prone
It takes too many taps to activate a bus pass (sometimes the app freezes while I'm trying to show my pass to the bus driver!), and it often crashes when I try to use the trip planner.
Additionally, for routes with multiple variants at different times, it would REALLY help if the variants were clearly displayed in-app, so that I don't have to check the crashy trip planner and scroll all the way down to see if this next bus will take me where I want to go.
I would also appreciate the ability to add bus stop nicknames, because often the name of the stop is unmemorable.

An app that used to work
The app was recently updated, and is now essentially unusable. The map of stations no longer allows one to click on a station to see the next arrivals. (It does allow you to type in the Stop ID, but I can reasonably only memorize ten or of the IDs which I use before my little brain gets full.)
I experience hard crashes nearly every time I’ve used it since the app update. You’re better off trying literally any other transit app until the many bugs are fixed.

Terrible customer service
My app updated but iPhone 6 is not supported anymore. App just crashes. Can’t access my digital tickets anymore. Won’t have any way to purchase digital tickets.
Who automatically causes an update without warning that the app will be useless after the update?? It’s a fricking bus app. I’m not spending $1k dollars for a new phone because a software developer decided that my phone is too old!

Appreciate the update
Just realized it’s been 4 yrs of using this app and it finally gets an update. Mostly some
Navigation refresh on the surface which feels like fewer taps overall. Apple Pay addition might be the most valuable addition overall. App seems faster in the last 2-3 days of usage and hopefully it stays that way. Ticket access still needs to be made faster, too many taps to get to it and activating it every single time for the monthly pass is annoying. Apple Wallet integration may really help, especially to pop it up when near a stop. Some data mining of frequently used routes and schedules would be a simple addition to be used for providing notifications on real time delays. Buses are especially unpredictable when taking from downtown during peak hours, so reliable real time tracking and notifications will be a massive boon. Pls give the app some more love and UI updates to make it less boring, considering regular commuters have to see it daily. A Siri shortcut to pull up the active pass with one command or one tap may be a valuable impactful addition. Cap Metro is a boon to Austinites, pls keep making the app better continuously. Thank you!

Latest Update Is Utter Garbage
To whomever is developing this app for updates, here’s a tip: STOP ELIMINATING PREVIOUS OS FROM THE UPDATES. Thanks to your shortsightedness, my app won’t open half the time. When it does, I hate to spend 20-35 minutes opening it, waiting 30 seconds for it to close out without getting any farther than the loading screen, force closing it, and trying again. And again. And again. Ad nauseam, until I can finally open the passes I paid for and show the drivers. It’s obnoxious and stupid and UNNECESSARY. Put the old OS back, or make it so we can revert to the earlier version. The iPhones gen 6S and earlier can no longer update to the current OS, because the insatiable greed of Apple is apparently as stupid as the update you just made. This is not sustainable. I will not be forced to spend hundreds of dollars to buy a new phone simply because developers can’t pay attention to what they’re actually doing to the people who USE this platform. Get your crap straight.

Your apps will always be a mess
I’ve reached out to support numerous times with the previous app, they get back to me and I respond to their questions and that’s it, nothing else and it never got fixed. Now with this new one I can’t buy passes at all, your payment system blows. I can’t use my cards because of the constant popup errors regarding payment processor error with PayPal or 3 different cards I’ve used. Just fix it already, stop being as lame as your bus service.

The September 2019 update is fantastic
I am absolutely blown away by the new update. I was concerned that the drastic changes might be for the worse, but nearly everything has been overhauled in a positive way. Your currently active pass is now the first thing you see when you open the app, which is a big deal by itself, but they also improved the process for purchasing new passes (Apple Pay!), the trip planner is actually usable now, the UI for finding nearby stops and times now shows the routes in the search menu so you don’t have to select each one to figure out which is the one you want, and so many more little touches.
It’s obvious that they paid attention to complaints about the previous version and did a lot of UI testing. Now if only the city could actually implement a useful light rail network...
