Phase One iQ3 working advocates

I shoot phase one iQ3 100mp and it will not tether to the laptop and then launch capture pilot server. Work around is usb to laptop and adhoc WiFi from the back to my iPad.

Embarrassment

This app will make you look bad in front of clients. Capture One has the audacity to charge its users every year with incomplete updates. They should be disgraced to not fix this.

Don’t buy

After purchasing find out that though capture one and phase one were born from the same company, now the support for 100mp A series doesn’t exist. It was 6 years old you’d think the developers could keep it at least maintained. But after purchasing it (despite owning phase) doesn’t connect because connection error. Shameful execution!,

Fast and easy

I have the app running on a computer, iPad, and phone without issues. The reason for the 4-star rating is that it can't run on AppleTV for a wireless display.

Handy tool but unstable

Great having a pilot on set although it crashes every 10-15 minutes

Router needed for stability

10x more stable when used with a proper router. Even connecting laptop & iPad to a Wi-Fi hotspot will improve stability.
On Location, I’ll put a router in a backpack with a battery, & keep it near between the laptop & iPad. Closer to iPad, since laptop has stronger radio.
But if your shooting fast, you have to expect lag and issues.
Even capture one on the laptop with motor drive won’t keep up, regardless of iPad.
It’s not magic.

Can’t we get updates?

Capture Pilot is really handy and yet they aren’t updating their own app for a long time. Why not focus on this app?

Can't get it to recognize on iPhone

I have Capture 22 and the pilot and can't get it to recognize the iPhone at all. Been good up until a few months ago and nothing happens now.

Crashes! Waste of money.

I downloaded this to capture self portraits remotely and paid £15 extra in-app however this feature doesn’t work, because it keeps crashing and all the shots are out of focus because the focus button is all greyed out, even-though my camera is capable of this. I tried troubleshooting but nothing works with this. Just settle for Canon Connect.

Useless with Fuji GFX 50s

This app crashes constantly and does not have any camera controls! When I applied an adjustment to correct for parallel lines on each image, the app crashed every time. Capture pilot with a laptop running Capture One works way better, but it requires Wi-Fi and battery backup for the laptop to make it all day through a shoot. This app could be so useful if they can get the bugs worked out and add camera controls, or at least remote shutter control!

Works well

This works well overall, but can be finicky at times with dropped connections and crawling to a halt when loading photos resulting in restarting the app

The lack of updates make me hesitant to buy the camera control

Camera Control didn’t do anything

I paid $15 for the Camera Control feature and it did nothing to allow me to control my EOS R6.

20% of the time it works every time

Great tool to have on set… when it works, which is not that often. It’s beyond me how capture one has not improved upon this yet as it’s been a major issue for years now.

Capture pilot stopped working for no reason

So I have been using capture pilot for self portraits and I was triggering the camera with it but it suddenly stopped working for absolutely no reason.
Now it says no Camera connected and can't use it.
The server is on, I'm connected to it, I can see the photos but no controls even though the camera is connected and turned on and capture one sees it and triggers it. But not capture pilot.
This app just became useless and garbage.

It’s outdated.

Capture Pilot is outdated with an old UI for a long time. I have no idea what they are thinking but I hope they add Capture Pilot features to iPad version of Capture One Pro. Because both viewers and camera control are very important. Otherwise, I wouldn't use this app at all.

Doesn’t sync via Wi-Fi to new XF IQ4 150

Frustrated that we spent so much on upgrading to the 150 and it no longer syncs to capture one via Wi-Fi for our shoots. We do aerial work that requires camera operator to shoot fast and 2nd operator reviewing sharpness and exposure on Capture Pilot and directing the plane pilot and camera operator to reshoot when needed. We had to bring a laptop and sync with a cable last shoot, and it‘s too bulky for aerial photography. We also can’t trigger the camera when we use the 14ft Tripod now for architectural work. Overall VERY DISAPPOINTED

Photos don’t load

If you have any library that’s large of any sort it just refuses to load

Not great on M1 iPad Pro

Really upset by this app. Currently trying to run on M1 iPad Pro and the app is constantly shutting off and force quitting itself while working with larger files. I paid to upgrade the app to use the camera functions but really not usable unless you just leave the app on one page and don’t click any images.

Why do I have to pay for extra features?

I own a full version of capture one, have done for years and yet I have to pay for the ability to fire the camera from a remote device?

Constantly crashes too. Still hoping that Adobe buys Capture One and makes it into what it could be by integrating LR with it!

Too unreliable

Paid for the camera control add-on which is too unreliable to use. It will work for a few minutes and then fail. I can't imagine how unprofessional I would look with a client in my studio and my remote control software regularly interrupts my shoot.

Even when it does work, the camera controls are rather limited (even compared to the desktop software). For example, you can't change the shutter mode or set a timer.
