App flawed by AppleWatch limitations

Although the date screen is a nice quick snapshot it is wildly in accurate. It relies on Apple Health data. For VO2 max the Apple Watch algorithms only measure walking or running. My walking is only at about 50-60% of my max heart rate. My real training is on a bike where I try to do VO2 max training. This app does not pick up any cycling training, indoor training or many other vo2 max training exercises.

Response from developer

Hi Djphhi, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I understand your frustration, and I appreciate you explaining your training situation. You're absolutely right that Apple Watch's VO₂ max measurement has limitations - it primarily captures data from outdoor walking and running workouts. Cardiolytics displays the cardiovascular fitness data that Apple Health provides, which means we're limited to showing what the Apple Watch itself can measure. The Apple Watch VO₂ max algorithm was specifically designed and validated for outdoor walking and running. Cycling, indoor training, and other exercise types use different biomechanics and require entirely different calculation methods that aren't compatible with wrist-worn heart rate data alone. This is a fundamental limitation of the measurement approach, not something any app can work around - even getting lab-accurate VO₂ max from cycling would require wearing a mask and measuring actual oxygen consumption. Our goal with Cardiolytics is to help you track the VO₂ max data you do have, send you notifications when it changes, and visualize your progress over time. We understand this doesn't give you the complete picture if your primary training doesn't generate these measurements. We'd love to provide more comprehensive tracking, but we're dependent on what Apple Health makes available to us. If you have suggestions for how we could make the app more useful within these constraints, we'd love to hear them at feedback@liftalytics.app. Thanks again for your honest feedback, and keep up the great work with your training!
