Unusable app
Don’t waste your money.
I paid $10 for the GPS-guided golf cart map because we wanted to see all of Catalina’s viewpoints and have a smooth self-guided experience. Unfortunately, the map never finished downloading to my phone, so I was unable to use the app at all.
We only had a limited amount of time on the island, and instead of enjoying the tour, we spent time trying to get the app to work. There was no benefit from the purchase because the map never became accessible.
The idea behind the app is great, but if the map won’t download when you need it, it’s useless. For us, it was a complete waste of $10.

Perfect App for Exploring Catalina Island
Catalina Compass is an excellent app for exploring Catalina Island. The GPS-guided maps are accurate and make it very easy to navigate around the island, especially during golf cart rides and cycling trips.
I really liked how clearly the app highlights scenic spots, viewpoints, routes, and local attractions. The interface is smooth, user-friendly, and extremely helpful for first-time visitors. The audio tour and location-based guidance make the overall experience even better and more interactive.
If you are visiting Catalina Island, this app is definitely worth downloading. It makes exploring the island much easier, more organized, and enjoyable.

MUST HAVE for golf cart rental
I definitely recommend this app to anyone renting a golf cart on Catalina. This app had clear directions and a super helpful map to get you to every scenic spot in Avalon. With each stop, you’d play a quick audio clip that was full of interesting fun facts and history. We’ve rented a golf cart on Catalina before, but my friends and I all agreed that this audio app gave us a completely different experience, in the best way! We’re all so glad we did this tour- we didn’t realize there was so much we didn’t know about Catalina!

Don’t rent a golf cart without it!
I thought I knew Catalina, but I learned a lot taking the self-drive golf cart tour with the app. Definitely download it before you rent a cart. Lots of great info, plus turn-by-turn directions to take you on a scenic route.
Great tour guide
This app gives location-based audio tour to parks, buildings, historic architectures along side the coast of Avalon. It also has information on the local weather, recommended
activity lists for the visitors. It definitely enhanced our experience visiting the island town for the first time.

Avalon Bay Discovery Walk
We loved this tour! So nice to have the ability to go on your own time and learn some interesting things about Catalina. Perfect for a morning coffee stroll. Highly recommended.
