Meh
Advertised as a turn based rpg but progression is actually incredibly linear and build variety is next to non existent it’s either certain destruction spells, melee or archery. Both of the latter are underwhelming. Wall of force being resisted by almost all larger enemies is a big gripe of mine for a build I had in mind. Makes a game that could be fun feel boxed in with all the constrictions of enemy resistances.

Absolutely awesome game!
This has become one of my favorite games. It’s a bit rough around the edges, but from a solo indie dev who cares and supports the game. The story and lore are so deep. Great world building 10/10
One of a Kind
While based on older titles and certainly drawing inspiration from them, Caves of Lore manages to set itself aside as an astonishing example of what a solo developer is capable of. From the story to the lore-rich world absolutely saturated with dialogue and even the dozens of books filled with actually interesting stories, Caves of Lore will keep you invested for days and then long after you’ve consumed the story as well.
The combat in the game is fluid and very satisfying, with tons of ways to play. The unique system for learning spells from books also solidifies the importance of the lore filled world and the incredible efforts the dev had put into making it shine.
If that wasn’t enough, the game also has incredible replayability. From testing yourself to finding new ways to overcome challenges or secrets you may have missed.
Finally, the game’s Developer participates in active feedback with their community. If you haven’t played it, check it out!

So good I bought it twice
I enjoyed the game so much on steam I bought it on the AppStore just so I could give the dev another positive review.
Exactly Right
I’ve spent a lot of time trying to find a perfect single player old school RPG that has engaging mechanics, an interesting story, challenging but not frustrating, and NO MICROTRANSACTIONS.
After a lot of trial and error I’m glad to say this game is exactly what I’ve been looking for. Highly recommended.
