Top Tier Mobile RPG

Game was fantastic, best money spent on an original RPG for my iPhone. Spend $10 on this compared to a month of premium on any “free to pay” mobile game.

I loved the game. It was simultaneously simple enough to pick up mechanics, but also had a good depth and play experience. Lasted several months of gameplay, depending on difficulty and desire to do all challenges you could add or subtract some, but easily worth the money.

I really like the battle system too.

The mysterious storyline made discovering the game very interesting. The 3 minor complaints are, the dialogue eventually becomes a bit redundant and the inventory gets a bit cluttered (but isn’t accumulating loot part of the fun of an RPG), and the retro felt a touch small on the phone but I adjusted quickly to it.

Overall the minor nit pics are so small compared to the fun I had playing.

Get this game!!

P.S. the game was made by a solo developer who clearly poured a lot of effort into creating this from his love of RPGs. Your few dollars spent on this go to a true RPG’r not some for profit game dev company making soulless games.

Incredible Game

What mobile games should be.

Excellent RPG

Original, fluide et agréable à manier sur téléphone, fonctionnant hors ligne et sans pub, non pollué par des d’achats intégrés, et avec un contenu soigné… Bref, un jeu qui méritait d’avantage d’attention !

Meh

Advertised as a turn based rpg but progression is actually incredibly linear and build variety is next to non existent it’s either certain destruction spells, melee or archery. Both of the latter are underwhelming. Wall of force being resisted by almost all larger enemies is a big gripe of mine for a build I had in mind. Makes a game that could be fun feel boxed in with all the constrictions of enemy resistances.

Absolutely awesome game!

This has become one of my favorite games. It’s a bit rough around the edges, but from a solo indie dev who cares and supports the game. The story and lore are so deep. Great world building 10/10

A quite well-made RPG

It is really. But the whole game becomes dull once you do everything possible(of course, but still). Overall, it is a nice game. I enjoyed it a lot!

One of a Kind

While based on older titles and certainly drawing inspiration from them, Caves of Lore manages to set itself aside as an astonishing example of what a solo developer is capable of. From the story to the lore-rich world absolutely saturated with dialogue and even the dozens of books filled with actually interesting stories, Caves of Lore will keep you invested for days and then long after you’ve consumed the story as well.

The combat in the game is fluid and very satisfying, with tons of ways to play. The unique system for learning spells from books also solidifies the importance of the lore filled world and the incredible efforts the dev had put into making it shine.

If that wasn’t enough, the game also has incredible replayability. From testing yourself to finding new ways to overcome challenges or secrets you may have missed.

Finally, the game’s Developer participates in active feedback with their community. If you haven’t played it, check it out!

So good I bought it twice

I enjoyed the game so much on steam I bought it on the AppStore just so I could give the dev another positive review.

Exactly Right

I’ve spent a lot of time trying to find a perfect single player old school RPG that has engaging mechanics, an interesting story, challenging but not frustrating, and NO MICROTRANSACTIONS.

After a lot of trial and error I’m glad to say this game is exactly what I’ve been looking for. Highly recommended.

Reminiscent of early "Exile"

This is an awesome game! It's reminiscent of the early versions of the Spiderweb Software game "Exile" in that it's completely open exploration, you have to talk to NPCs...and sometimes go back and talk again; and there are lots of secrets and quests and a lot to do. The interface takes some getting used to, but overall a great game and great value!

Excellent Game!

Love it, other developers should take note. Thanks for a great gaming experience, can’t wait for number 2!

Amazing dungeon crawler!

This game is a love letter to those who love old school dungeon crawlers. The turn based combat is fantastic! I really can’t recommend this game enough. Nice lighting effects and good level design. Worth every penny!

Fun, funny, and overall a terrific time

This game is a true labor of love. Love for old school RPGs and dungeon crawlers, with amazing monsters, fun sidekicks, and plenty of side quests and secrets. But also love for the player — this is a game with an amazingly supportive and responsive dev who really cares about making the game better.

Incredible Indie RPG

One of my favorite games of all time. A true treasure with inspiration from Fallout 1/2, Baldur’s Gate, and other classic RPGs. I count this as a cozy game with the art style and spell leveling. Amazing work, thank you dev.

Peerless gem.. so I’ll critique it..

We need more of this, just less flashy divinity or baldurs gate, easy to enjoy and engage with.

One thing I would change about this game is that I’d like eccentric attributes choice to be more rewarding, it feels like the game needs to have certain attributes to be played, which is a shame. For example resistance build requires strength to function if you want to wear armour, or an archery build requires strength to wield a bow, or brawl requires spi to scale.

Another thing is that I which proficiency negated skill penalty on related weapons, if I want to be all agility and wield a bow it’s impossible because I need strength req first, I wish i wasn’t blocked when I try to play extremes.

Great game

Well thought out great game

Fantastic

Fantastic game and the dev is receptive to feedback.

Love this game!

I highly recommend this if you like a great story, unique characters, and DnD-like combat. Lots of love went into this game.

Lot of hours in Solmaria

This is a unique, wonderful rpg with beautiful pixel graphic, with not trivial story, great heroes, npcs, lore. Huge amount of secrets and quests.
If you think about buying this game - do this, if u like rpg, turn-based or just fan of pixel art.

Hope project will be develop, and over time mb new unique items, locations, heroes we’ll get… May be even dlc.

It costs every ruble. Thank you. don’t abandon this project.

ps. language is simple enough, but it would be easier and enjoyable to solve secrets, read books in Russian.
