Excellent for PPL AND IR

So far I’ve completed my PPL and am working on my IR using CTA. This school works regardless of whether you are flying Cessnas or not and in my case I’m flying Pipers!

Keep in mind that there will be Cessna specific items at various points so it that doesn’t apply to you, just make note of it and move on.

The audio feature and videos are fantastic however some of the pages are bugged there there is no audio option.

My only gripe (and maybe it’s just me) is that this is a little over the top for what I needed to know for PPL. While having this information is excellent, I found that I had to relearn a lot of the information when prepping for the oral as it got lost in the acres and acres of information CTA provides you.

My best recommendation if you choose to you CTA, which I think you should, is to use organized electronic notes and take this ground school extremely seriously, even if it takes you several months to complete, which it most likely will.

Overall CTA is exceptionally helpful! Don’t get overwhelmed PPL students! You’ll do just fine!

From a Private Pilot’s views

This app is incredibly helpful when I am on the go with family or in school. I am easily able to complete lessons, watch videos and keep up with my instructor and in some cases ahead of my instructor. This app I can say for certain has shortened the learning curve in my journey to becoming a pilot before college. My only critique is that the only aircraft that are displayed in the app are Cessna, although not a surprise due to the app being centered towards Cessna’s it would be a help if the app could demonstrate other scenarios - I fly a pipestrel alpha trainer to make my journey affordable with my current position in income.

Get into the 21st Century

I would not use this app if it was not required by my school, hated it for ppl and it’s even worse for IFR. Videos from the 90’s low quality and resolution, no interactive tools, outdated avionics, and only cover g1000 that I don’t have access to. No ability to zoom and no scaling for high dpi screens, no android app for phone. Exorbitant price relative to better alternatives like sporty’s. Honestly, I’ll fly through this to “complete” it for the school but turn to something like sporty’s for my real studying.

There is a bug in the app. Some pages show up blank & populate only after going to the main page & back again

Update it to be more user friendly.

It’s 2025…we shouldn’t be having an all that feels like windows 99. If you pay for the course, you should be able to keep it afterwards for review. Kinda bummed out after spending all the money and mot being able to go back and review after the class has finished. Gatekeeping for what? To resort to AI teaching me instead? Fix your business model and put consumer first before AI takes your job. 😤

Dated videos, awkward format

Worked through this app and Sportys. The videos are pretty poor in this version and the formatting of the text based lessons is distractingly bad. I do like that there is text based portions so you don’t have to fast forward or back to find the bit they last said.

Almost perfect

It would be a great app if it wasn’t constantly disconnecting from King Schools servers. I find that to be a pretty glaring issue when you need to back out of and refresh the page you’re studying every 2 minutes because it disconnects and goes blank.

Ok

Lessons and videos don’t match up. Could be organized better. App is glitchy. Old content

King Schools

Best web-base training materials ever. Excellent Ground school platform.

Good/but could be better

It’s great to get you through a basic knowledge but I’m having trouble with passing the written for ppl because what the slides/course show you doesn’t give you all the info. I have the far/aim but I think a course I paid for should have all the information I need rather the

Good app with some problems

Some content overflows the view on the iPhone - can’t scroll horizontally, so it’s unreadable.

Great!

Kings school learning products are always great! My only issue is with the app itself. the test questions at times are rather small and the selection fields are too close together. This has caused me to accidentally select the wrong answer at times which marked me down in my classes when I had to submit the phase reports because it took more than once to answer a question correctly.

Amazing app

These people that put the course together are not only incredibly knowledgeable but also passionate about aviation. They will make your learning experience very enjoyable and rewarding.

Basically a dude reading an outline.

Get original kings or look at other more interactive programs

Good info, bad layout

This app is good for getting you the info you need. My ground school counts the questions at the end of each section towards your grade, your first answer is what counts,it doesn’t matter if you correct it or not. At least half of the questions I have “missed” so far are because the buttons are too close together and I hit the wrong one. In one selection answers, you don’t get to confirm before the app accepts it.

Some images are lower quality and unable to see details

There’s several images that aren’t great quality. There’s also some that aren’t zoomable which makes it difficult to make out certain items. So far the course material is good and I like how it’s setup.

It’s sort. Of -unreadable?

The content is ok, but the text is weirdly bulleted and punctuated, to the point of being unreadable.

If you have a choice, go get the regular King app, not this one. I know it’s legitimate but it feels like a knockoff.

The ‘real’ King app helped me pass my IFR written. Now this one, unfortunately required by my Part 141 school, is helping me un-learn it all.

Does not work

I have a course, but once I select it, the app is a blank white screen. Useless.

Works great!!

Very well done. Easy to use and very convenient. I primarily study from my 10 iPad and the format is perfect.

Needs UI resizing options.

In portrait the text is too small. In landscape it is good, but any text that is cut off is hidden with no way to scroll down to see it.

Basically this app feels like a beta from 2010, but I am paying $400 for the course so it is really disappointing to have these issues.
