Just stole 4 bucks from me

Bought the game, didn’t recognize it, try to restore purchase, crashes game. Then I go in to a different menu and restore purchase, nothing happens. Payment went through. It’s on my purchases. Stole my 4 bucks.

Take my money, please?

So the game is great! But it won’t let me buy it, and I wanna buy it!!

Fun

Easy and fun

Full version does not work

I bought the full version, but the screen requiring me to watch an ad keeps popping up. Clicking “restore purchases” just crashes the app. Total waste of money.

Response from developer

Thanks for the feedback and we're extremely sorry to hear about this. We've had a handful of other players report the same issue and have worked through their feedback to resolve it in v1.04, which we're uploading now. Long and short of it is that we believe the issue triggers when attempting to purchase the game via the in-race view rather than the main menu screen. If you can get in touch with us at support@toweringtowers.com, we'd really like to get some more information to help understand the sequence of events to check if it's been addressed in v1.04 or was caused by something else.

Good but still needs some stuff

I just found this game and it’s amazing except for a few things like I get that the devs want money for this game but people like me just want to play this game for free. One other thing that I wish they would add is braking (slowing down) because there’s times I’m in a death match and I’m ahead of my opponent and I can’t slow down to beat them. But overall this is a very cool game.

Response from developer

Hello, thanks for the review and feedback! The game should let you skip any paywall by watching an advert, we do recognise there's a significant player base who simply don't want to pay anything for the game and we wanted to make sure there is an option for them to still enjoy Chariot Rivals. Please do let us know if it's not working! Slowing down is a mechanic we're tinkering with in the background here, we wanted to do something more interesting than just reducing your speed if we're adding another button to the game screen. Watch this space!

Scam

Purchased full game cause it was fun and a few races later asks you to purchase again and won’t let you progress

Great game but…

This games needs a few things but one of the mayor thing would be a joystick control. The controls are horrible I end up with my finger at the other end of the screen.

Response from developer

Thanks for the feedback! We tried a few different control setups in testing and veered away from a typical joystick control because we found that it left our thumbs tired at the end of it. Try taking your finger off the screen (as the tutorial will suggest) on the straights and focusing on the turns - or whenever you feel the need to squash some hapless rival against the stands! In all seriousness though, we'll take another look at this and see if we can't implement some form of joystick control option down the line. We're currently working on our first feature update in v1.04 however so it's all hands on deck for that!

Chariot Rivals

I beat it the day I downloaded it and bough the full game right away! very fun and hopefully more features, need more replayability/variety in my opinion

Response from developer

Thank you so much for the review and feedback, ToucanMan1! We've absolutely got lots more planned to add both variety and game length. If you've tried out Knight Lancer previously you'll have some idea of what might be in store 😉 keep an eye on us, we'll be tinkering away and pushing out updates as regularly as we can!

High Potential, But Not Quite There Yet

This game is awesome. I love the setting and premise, and the gameplay experience is smooth and simple. There’s also a lot of customisation!
There are some things that I think would help out, like new armour sets or a transmog-like option so I can use whichever armour I want without worrying about stats, and maybe some variety in track layout. I’m not sure how historically accurate it would be, but it would add a lot if there were some tracks that weren’t only ovals.
Finally, there are some bugs that I’ve noticed: In my main save, if my armour is broken, my black hair will revert to gold for the final race in a series. Sometimes multiple racers will receive the same medal at the end of the same race.

I’m rooting for you guys, because you did fantastic with Knight Lancer!

Response from developer

Hey, thanks so much for the review and feedback! I think with Knight Lancer we were amazed to see people just playing our game, and now going into Chariot Rivals I don't know why but we just didn't think about what it would feel like having fans of our style supporting us. It feels great! 🙈 Most of all though, thank you for your patience and detailed response. Bugs first: v1.04 will include a fix for the hair colour changing when starting a race without your helmet. The random "loss" recording issue should now be fixed in v1.03 but let us know if it shows up again. Multiple racers receiving the same medal at the end of a race is not one we've seen yet, but we'll look into it while we're working on v1.04. Regarding features! All armours and helmets should automatically give '5' armour/hp rating after you've completed the main season. We checked and it does this in the race but does not show this on the shop view. That's now fixed in v1.04! Track layout is a big one 🧐 we experimented heavily with this at the start of development / concepting over a year ago, and absolutely would have done it but found that it wasn't much fun with Chariot Rivals' control scheme and quickly tired out our thumbs! It's not ruled out however, and we've got plans for something similar to the bonus rounds in Knight Lancer that will make things more interesting or even have non-oval tracks. And new armour is an absolute certainty. Likely not in v1.04 but as we shift from bug fixing to new features it'll start trickling in there. Thanks once again for the feedback and the vote of confidence, it's great to have you with us on Chariot Rivals' journey to become the most fun chariot racing game out there! 😁

Last but not least, after completing the main campaign, each subsequent rerun starts with a lost race before I’ve had the chance to actually play. Also, seemingly at random, a race that I’ve won will be marked as a loss.

High potential, fatal flaw

It’s a pretty simple game, but I don’t have a problem with that. It’s fun, engaging, is rewarding to get better at.

The problem is that I keep winning the races, and the game’s score and mini map counts them as losses! The score doesn’t go up, and nothing is worse than winning the race, getting the currency, and then going back to the map and seeing a fat 0 at the location you just competed in. I’d like to try to 100% the game, but without the score reflecting that it feels pointless, therefore making the whole experience pointless.

Hope to see this issue fixed soon.

Thank you very much for this feedback. We've found the bug and thoroughly squashed it, you'll be happy to hear! But seriously, we're incredibly thankful for feedback like this and your patience with our latest game. The fix will be out in v1.03, with others!

Big fan of studio!

Once you purchase the full game it will not allow you to play and when attempting to restore the purchase the game crashes. Essentially paid for the app to no longer work, ehich is weird because I didn’t have an issue until I purchased the full version.

Response from developer

Hi, thanks for getting in touch and sorry to hear about this! Could you please check App Store to confirm if payment was taken for the purchase? If you can try and restart the game and send us any screenshot or screen recording you can of what happens, that would be helpful. We’re gearing up to release v1.03 currently and have made some tweaks to IAP as well so hopefully we’ll have caught the bug behind this, but if you can send any further information to support@toweringtowers.com we can check to make sure! Many thanks for your support and we hope you’ll stick with us during the launch of our new game, we’ll be working hard on new features and bug fixes constantly! Edit: Okay, we think we may have found the issue. Please watch out for it in v1.03!!

Fun but very one dimensional

No controls other than steer, no combat, or any option to go faster or slower, makes death matches pretty much a stalemate

Response from developer

Thanks for the review and feedback! There's an option to go faster, in fact it's a core part of the gameplay! After you've completed the first race you should unlock the 'Boost' button. It's great for pushing ahead to prime position going into a turn - although we love to use it to get into smashing range with whoever has the misfortune to be between us and 1st place! 🥇😁

Great fun, could use work

I want to start by saying that I’m really glad the knight lancer devs (dev?) put out another game and that the gameplay loop is very fun. It is easily worth the $4 and I would give it 4 stars if I hadn’t gone in with raised expectations from knight lancer. It’s evident that the devs did research for the game instead of relying on media depictions, and it’s very refreshing. I love that there are jokes about Latin noun declensions and that text is in Latin. Figuring out what passus and cursus mean is rewarding, and on the whole it makes the game more immersive. I really respect the decision to trade the accessibility of English for the immersion of Latin.

Unfortunately, the game is not without flaws, but I have full confidence that the game will be continuously updated and improved, as was the case for knight lancer.

Bugs (minor):
After the fourth race or so, my horses changed from the golden beige to the default brown, and they have never changed back. It would be great if you could edit your character and horses later, as in knight lancer to fix this.

Sometimes, in act 3 or 4, the map view says that I am in act 1. This fixed itself after the race. I have seen it multiple times across seasons.

On either the penultimate or final race in Rome, the description was just some placeholder text with a “0” in it.

I’ve completed 2 seasons and got gold in every race (in the second season), and yet I don’t have the Numidia, Spain, or Egypt achievement. I believe this is a bug.

Progression:
The game is really short (2-3 hours main story), it feels as though there wouldn’t be anything to do after a second season. This is in stark and unfortunate contrast to knight lancer (sorry to keep bringing it up, it’s a good reference), where finishing the main quest feels more like a beginning than an end. This is because you still need to raise a lot of money for your kingdom and buy all the cosmetics/horses. Here, one has no kingdom to spend money on, and one gets so much money (especially for the winner-take-all deathmatches), that one could buy all cosmetics and chariots in less than 2 seasons This limited replayability is a very strange contrast, since the gameplay itself is less monotonous. If later season difficulty was scaled up, it would be very fun to race and become a noble or senator, which might unlock some additional thing to spend money on (like a villa). Alternatively, I’d be happy if I could buy all the different colored horses, or upgrade them, or customize them, I just wish there was more to spend money on.

Cosmetics:
A lot of the cosmetics are very similar, and while I appreciate the historical accuracy, very few cosmetics distinguish themselves.

Helmets match your crest/heraldry while armor doesn’t, which means if I want to wear 2/5 late-game matching sets I’ll have mismatched helmet and armor.

The third chariot in the top row is unlocked sooner, is cheaper, and has better stats than the fourth chariot in the first row, which seems strange.

Again, I’ve had a blast with this game, I just wish I had a reason to play it more. If it was more replayable, I’d even be willing to pay up to $7 for it, but I’m left disappointed, having 100%’ed the game in 3 or 4 hours when I enjoyed their previous game for at least 8. It’s a great game and I’d recommend it, but for me it’s a disappointing step down from knight lancer.

Dear friend, thank you so much for taking the time to write this (and welcome again our brother in arms from Knight Lancer!). There’s a lot to unpack here! I’m going to do my best but if I’ve missed anything important, you know how to reach us (now Support@ToweringTowers.com!) The big one you’ve raised is replayability and game length. Rest assured, we have Big with a capital B plans on this front! From a story point of view, you can expect to continue the tale of the early Roman Empire through the reign of Claudius and the infamous Nero, who renamed Circus Caligula into the better known Circus Nero. As with Knight Lancer we want to roll that into giving you something to spend your winnings on and we’re currently weighing a few options on that front. We also have a number of new mechanics concepted which we intend to build into the game in the coming months, but these will further increase gameplay variety rather than add content so we'll have to think about what we prioritise going forwards based on your feedback. Regarding the bugs, thanks for pointing all these out. The horse colour bug was pointed out by another player recently and should now be fixed in v1.02. We’ll get the rest in v1.03 which is being worked on now! But I want to close this reply with the most important comment of all: you’re very right to expect long support and conscientious updates for Chariot Rivals, and we have every intention to do just that. As Knight Lancer before it, it’s a game we’ve built on a topic close to our hearts to scratch an itch we just never felt adequately scratched by the games we played growing up. Even Knight Lancer when it was first released “ended” after defeating Duke Friedrich with a few armour pieces to unlock. Over months we added layers and mechanics and eventually the second chapter wherein you build your castle, and we intend to take the same approach with Chariot Rivals. While anything less than a 5-star review always gets a wince from us, we know how valuable feedback like yours is. Many months of people complaining about Knight Lancer’s hitboxes got it to where it’s at today and be a better game for it, and likewise with Chariot Rivals we’re going into this tools out and ready to fix leaks and tighten creaks as we continue building it up into the very best chariot racing game it can be. Thanks once again for playing our game and for the excellent feedback. You’re part of Chariot Rivals’ development journey now, so check back in now and then and hopefully we’ll start ticking some items off your list! p.s. there’s a third chapter for Knight Lancer under works currently as well. We hope to have it ready end of August or September, we think you’ll enjoy it!

Big problem

Purchased the full game but won’t process and every time I got restore it crashes. At this point it’s a scam

Response from developer

Hello, we’re very sorry to hear this. In the first instance can you please check App Store / Apps & Purchase History and make sure you’ve not been charged, or else request a refund? Secondly we would love to follow up with you directly on this if you don’t mind sending us an email at Support@ToweringTowers.com with any further details you can provide, ideally a screen recording of what happens after you press the purchase / restore buttons. If you can also provide device model and country that would help. From memory someone faced a similar issue with our last game but that was down to them being based in China. We’ve spoken to a few players since launch and not had any issues reported with purchasing, so would love to find out more about this. Thank you for trying our game and we hope to hear from you soon! 😊 EDIT: Okay, we think we may have found the issue! Please watch out for it in v1.03!

Génial :)

Bonjour,
