A calorie counter and food diary that scores every plate. Photograph a meal, or just type or say what you ate: CheckCal logs the calories and nutrients and tells you how good a plate it was, not just how big. When you see your dietitian, nutritionist or doctor, it writes the report.
A SCORE FOR EVERY PLATE
Every meal gets one number from 0 to 10. What the plate brings: protein and fiber, measured against your own targets for that part of the day. What should stay low takes points off: free sugar, salt, saturated fat and deep-frying. Tap the score and the reasons are written out ("good protein, salty") with what would help at the next meal. A snack is scored for the protein or fiber it brings. Calories are not in the score: the rings say how much, the score says how good. It is all computed on your phone from public references (WHO 2012, 2015 and 2023, SACN 2015).
CALORIES AND NUTRIENTS, TRACKED
One ring for calories and six for protein, carbs, fat, fiber, sugar and sodium, each against your own target. Fat splits into saturated and unsaturated. Water, steps, workouts and weight on the same screen.
PHOTO, WORDS OR VOICE*
Take the picture and carry on: the reading lands in your day on its own, each food with its grams. Or type or say what you ate and CheckCal builds the meal. Corrections take a sentence ("it's tofu, not chicken, the fries were baked"), and every food has its own pencil. Packaged food scans by barcode, and anything can be entered by hand.
A REPORT FOR YOUR DIETITIAN, NUTRITIONIST OR DOCTOR
Export your food log as a PDF for 7 days, 30 days, 3 months or your own dates: every meal with its grams and numbers, each day against your targets, averages, trends of calories, score and weight, meal timing, and points to discuss. With photos or without, with a note from you on the cover.
ONE FLAT DAY
No slots to fill, no badges, no challenges. Meals in the order you ate them, a day score, one sentence about what would help next.
PROGRESS BY WEEK, MONTH AND YEAR
Calories, plate score and weight over a week, a month or a year, and "What stands out": what is going well and what would close the gap.
YOUR TARGETS, WITH THE MATH SHOWN
Resting energy by Mifflin-St Jeor, your activity, a pace that never goes deeper than a quarter under what you burn, and protein at 1.6 g per kg of target weight (1.8 if you train most days). Every number has its formula and its source.
ON YOUR PHONE
Action button, Control Center and lock-screen controls to log a plate; Siri and Shortcuts; widgets; a Live Activity while a photo is read; Apple Health. Dark mode, Dynamic Type, VoiceOver. In English, Polish, German, Spanish, Ukrainian, Russian and Belarusian. Questions? Chat with us in the app.
