Doesn’t work for my old Apple Watch
Very disappointed. I wanted to play chess on my old Apple Watch. Won’t load. Guess it’s not compatible.

Can’t Play Black
Well made and works great, but I don’t understand how there’s no way to play back against AI?

You can’t play multiplayer with someone not sitting next to you
no takebacks :(
There’s no takeback option. Especially on the watch, I lost material by mistake :( There’s also no settings option.
Pretty good but you can’t take back a move
The app it’s pretty solid and simple. I like it but sometimes when I am moving my pieces it is easy to make a mistake and place the piece in the wrong square (since the image it’s pretty smalls). If there’s a way to take back your move please let me know and if there’s not, developer please add this feature and update it. If so, this app could be easily at 5/5.

I Love it!
This app makes me laugh, when it moves like lightning and Checkmates me. I respond with a few “What?”. And then move on. I really like testing openings and I’m learning which ones to avoid. I have moved to the “Hard” mode and have never won, but you can learn by watching what your opponent (always black) does for it’s counter move. I’m playing on my iPhone XR and I know it would take up more mb if you added a black start option, but would like to see it happen. And if you want to go bigger, you could add a little encouragement bubbles. Thank you for no adds, and thank you for your excellent app.😊

Amazing
It is really amazing that there is now a real AI chess playing app for the Apple Watch! I am very happy. Some “sound” when moves are made would be nice, but is not a “must”. Great work!

I really enjoy playing this version of chess on my devices and I think the logic and strategy is excellent. Although there are a minor hiccups such as a pawn making an impossible move, this happens very rarely and I would still recommend this app.
It is fun, but not for advanced players
First of all, congratulations to the developers on creating this game. It’s totally awesome to play chess on my Apple Watch. I am not really such a great player, but I am a very enthusiastic player. That being said, the engine that runs the game is not so strong. Even on the hardest level, I am able to win without much trouble. (My rating is somewhere around 1400.) If you like Chess, you absolutely should buy this app. It’s only $.99. But don’t expect a high level game. Someone else had suggested, and I agree, there should be an “back“ button because the screen is so small that I sometimes move the piece by accident.

Mostly good
I downloaded this app a few weeks ago and so far it beats the original Apple Watch chess app, the app that comes with the watch doesn’t even let you play chess on it but this one is just simple and fun. The only bad thing is that the board is tiny on the phone and sometimes on the watch when you try to go to the home screen, or move a player that is in a cluster of other pieces it moves the wrong player or moves yours not where you want it to go. I have had it freeze only once. But overall it is the best chess app for Apple Watch

Scam to me
App always froze on my phone immediately. Felt like I was scammed for a dollar.
Missing features
Edit: wow, every feature was just fixed. The only thing that’s keeping this from being perfect is that it’s hard to play on the watch because it’s such a small screen (lots of mistake moves because I didn’t tap on the precise location). Don’t know how that could be fixed though... maybe an undo button? Otherwise it works.

Let me see the final game board
Edit: The developer has fixed my problem and several others’ as well. This developer listens to feedback! It’s everything I want in a chess watch app now, and only a dollar. Rating changed from 3 stars to 5!
Previous review: This app looks nice and works well, but once you or the opponent get checkmate or stalemate, the game instantly puts up a huge banner in front of your game, informing you of that fact. Then, once you tap the message, it immediately brings you back to the start screen to start another game. I want to look at the final game board to review how many pieces each player had left, what I could have done differently if I lost, etc. Give us the option to view the final game board before exiting, and I will raise my review!

Perfect chess for watch
I’m editing my original review witch had two stars for the lack of castle feature. Now that full chess is on my watch, this app is as great as intended.
