Board layout
Constantly does a wrong board layout and no way to change it. My black pieces moves downward for some reason. Right bottom corner is H1 in app when in reality is A8
Great Chess Analysis Tool, but Endgame Orientation Needs Attention
I have been using ChessVision for more than six months, and it has become an essential part of my chess practice. The ability to scan or upload an image of a chessboard and instantly analyze the position is extremely convenient and has significantly improved my study workflow.
However, I have encountered one recurring issue, particularly in endgame positions. The app sometimes fails to correctly identify the direction in which the pawns are moving. As a result, it suggests pawn moves in the opposite direction, effectively reversing the position and making the analysis unusable.
A possible improvement would be to automatically detect the board orientation more accurately or provide users with an option to manually specify the board orientation, similar to the existing option for selecting whose turn it is to move (White or Black). This enhancement would greatly improve the accuracy and usability of the app, especially for endgame analysis.
Overall, ChessVision is an excellent application with powerful features, and addressing this issue would make it even more reliable for serious chess players.

Issue is the photos too often do not capture the board correctly and there is no way to manually edit

Annoying countdown
Has a 24 hour countdown when you run out of scans… You’d think a daily limit that resets at 12am would be used. I used it yesterday, and 18 hours later wanted to use it today but got hit with the 24 hour countdown…

Great app for chess puzzles
Works exactly as advertised. The app will convert a photo to a playable chess board which is great for puzzles, analyzing positions, etc. The design is simple and intuitive.
Flat out doesn’t usually work
Most of the times I’ve tried to use this, it does not detect a chessboard, regardless of whether it is in "auto" or "manual" scan modes. Sometimes it works but the failure rate is very high. Modern AIs such as perplexity can easily create a PGN from a gif but this appears to be some ancient LLM that requires things to be absolutely perfect to work right. Stopped using it.

Brilliant tool for chess training
Ideal to scan a position from a tactics book to solve it as a defensive or offensive puzzle ie switch sides and stop the tactic . Ten times quicker or more than setting up a board or inputting a position manually .

Helps me analyze
I pick up books on chess and read as many as possible to understand the terminology, and thought process, but this application corresponds and translates how to analyze against my myself while having matches against myself. My ELO has elevated tremendously.

. It's great. It instantly finds the position and is able to produce it even if the picture is horizontal and it can find the match that it was played in if it was played in official manner I guess it's amazing.
