App

Great free app to learn Mandarin

comprehensive and thorough

This app has it all, including hanzi (characters), pronununciation, and videos. It grades pronunciation, and gives detailed explanations. Additionally, there are 4 forms of Chinese available to learn. I found the explanations on grammar, and other language tips to be helpful. Also, the pinyan is explained well. Finally, there is a super slow mode to listen to the pronunciation well, and you can tap it as many times as needed. Each lesson will be a thorough lesson on a paericular set of several words, and you can always go back and revisit a lesson if necessary. The hanzi (character), pinyan (pronunciation)and (English) translation are available in every segment of the lesson. I downloaded this app to supplement my Duolingo lessons, and find this one to be my main go to now.

Worth it

This app is probably the best one out there, and in my opinion it is worth paying for the subscription. The addition of drawing the characters helps a lot with memorizing them.

Exceptional app for learning Chinese

I have been using it for almost 2 years and am very satisfied and making progress. It helps with a building a good foundation in tones and pinyin. It uses repetition and various mechanisms that help with remembering vocabulary and also speaking. I like the games too. I have only used it a little each day but made more progress than I realized. Thank you Chineseskill for making a great app to learn Chinese. Just a note, immersion is also really important so listening and reading outside of app is very important to making progress too.
