Yes

I’m just glad I have the American version. It has gotten almost 80% of mine but lately when it does catch the name of a bird the volume to hear the trip to compare is not working if you guys can fix it.

Response from developer

Thank you for your review - I’m very pleased the American version has been useful. If you can’t hear the comparison sounds, the most likely reason is that Bird-safe Mode is switched on. When Bird-safe Mode is on, the sound is routed through the phone’s earpiece rather than the main speaker, so you need to hold the phone close to your ear to hear it. This makes it safe to use outdoors without disturbing wild birds. You can control Bird-safe Mode using the switch at the top right of the screen. Please try switching it off, or switching it on and off again, and see if that solves the problem. If that doesn’t help, please email us at spiny@spinysoftware.com and we’ll be happy to help.

Wonderful

I paid for this app several years ago and then there was an update that seemed to have locked me out, appeared that all my recordings were gone and another fee was being tacked on. I left a rather scathing review because I was genuinely upset as I’m a hard core bird lover and the customer service was amazing, there was no added fee. I’m not sure what happened but I was frantic. I had years of birds catalogued because we lived under a migration path, even a pair of Mourning Doves that came to my backyard and I was heartbroken because it seemed I lost it all but the ending to my story is a happy one due to the customer service. This really is a phenomenon app, I live in Alberta, Canada and had no idea how many species of sparrows exist. It’s fun and I’ve learned so much. I would recommend to stop checking out other apps and get this one. Thank you again to customer service for calming me down and yes I still have my flock of Sandhills Cranes recorded!

Response from developer

I am so sorry to hear you've had this experience. I can reassure you that nothing has been removed from the app, and your Sandhill Crane recordings should be safe. Please contact us via email or through the contact form on our website, and we’ll get it sorted for you right away.

Loved it until

I paid for this app years ago, $6.99 and had years of catalogued birds and it was all erased because you went to the “pro” version when I already paid for it. I’m heartbroken, there was a flock of Sandhill Cranes I’d recorded, years worth and it’s all forever gone. If I’d never paid for it I would t be as disgusted as I am. Now I can’t use it at all unless I pay the yearly fee. I’ll gladly buy a different app

The App no longer saves recordings!

In the last month or so (March-April 2025), the App changed — it no longer saves my recordings! This appears to coincide with the rollout of a “Pro” feature that you have to pay for. But I already paid for the app last year. I feel cheated :(

Response from developer

Thank you for your review, and I'm sorry to hear you're having problems. The app should still save your recordings as before, so it sounds like something isn't working correctly. Also, if you previously purchased the app, you shouldn’t be seeing any messages about the Pro version. If you could email me at spiny@spinysoftware, I’ll be very happy to help sort this out for you.

Disappointed

Not upfront about app costs, make sure you review info online before downloading.
