Great Content let down by inconsistent functioning
This is a marvellous treasury of hymns which enables our church to sing without a pianist. For an aging and numerically declining congregation this is a wonderful thing.
Unfortunately, many of the search and menu functions work less well and less often than they need to.
For example, if I try to use the search by first lines menu, it only actually opens one time in ten. The same for searching by meter.
The general search function appears to operate as a mystery, even when I type in correct lyrics I don’t always get a result.
It is these frustrations that hold the app back from being the perfect resource. As it is, it is a great resource, provided you also have a paper copy of the music book to find the hymns!

The most recent update is so disappointing that I’ve basically stopped using
and began looking for a different app to sing hymns. I deleted the app and reinstalled hoping that this might make the app work better. However, that didn’t do the trick. Please return to the previous app.

Getting worse
After a series of updates, the app has gotten worse.

I’m sad that you have taken off the sepia tone, being dyslexic it helps my brain to read better. Is it possible to reinstall the sepia tone please.
Wonderful, wonderful app!
Just love the app. However, it won’t completely open now. All I see is the Christian Hymns logo, which remains frozen.
The value of this app far exceeds its price!
This app is a wonderful resource and incredibly reasonable for its price. It’s features are comprehensive with a good search facility while the MP3 files are excellent and superior to the midi file tunes also included. The value of the midi tunes is the app has built into it the means to both alter the pitch and tempo. The Bible Reference index is also extremely helpful when wanting to prepare a service around a certain Scripture passage. Altogether the worth of this app to our church far exceeds its price!!

Useless
It doesn’t work with voice over I can’t get it past the welcome screen so can’t use it all. Really disappointed
Nothing in free version
Before I purchase the full version I’d like to know what sort of hymns are there. Any hymn I click shows a message asking to upgrade to full version. There’s no easy way to play the free ones. Am I supposed to click on all hundreds of tracks to find the one that’s free?
Copy and paste?
I like to include hymns in my blog posts. I bought it because I was hoping to copy and paste to save typing. Is this possible?
A treasure store of hymns and tunes
What a great resource this has turned out to be.
I can now sing all my own favourite hymns or learn new ones, or even learn new tunes to old hymns. This is a great encouragement for bringing more praise into each day and for bringing to bear the hard earned truths and heartfelt emotions of centuries of hymns into my own trials and joys.
Furthermore, I discovered I’m able to use this app to bring these hymns to a small service we hold for elderly residents in a care home.
I’ve also found use for the app when our usual musicians are away or unwell so the ministers can still have the hymns they need for the service. I’m easily able to stand in with my phone and a speaker to hand to provide the music to sing to.
The music can either be streamed (electronic music files) or downloaded (mp3 files of recorded music). Each provides an intro piece before the hymn and the electronic version can be altered in tone or in tempo to suit the singer/s. A few of these electronic tunes have faults (eg. ‘All Things Bright and Beautiful’ plays the chorus twice between verses) so it’s worthwhile listening through them before using them. The downloadable mp3 files have no such faults. Unfortunately, because they’re recorded music the downloaded version can’t be adjusted for tone or tempo. I don’t think I’ve yet found that I haven’t been able to use one or the other though for any hymns we’ve wanted to sing.

This is great. I love the fact that you can hear different tunes for each hymn. I use this at home at the end of my quiet times. You can store your favourite hymns. I really enjoy using this app.
Waited for years for this
I absolutely love this. Now I can sing hymns , not only on Sunday at church, but anytime day or night, 7 days a week. I can even learn to sing new hymns. Again thank you , thank you, thank you .
good but
Good and easy to use but since we use the older version of christian hymns I have to reference the hymns back to the version we use. Great to be able to select different tunes for each hymnand to have the tunes played with an introduction and all the verses as in the hymn book. However the pitch of the piano is a semitone or tone too high for older congregations. Pity as we cant reach the high notes. Any chance developers that this can be mastered so that we can alter the pitch. Also the pace of the hymns is sometimes a tad slow. Also how about a hymn board selector feature to have the tunes up and ready in order for the service?
