What Happened?!
I grew up on Church’s chicken and on Sundays after church we would do 1 of 3 things for lunch: go to Luby’s Cafeteria or grab delicious fried chicken with okra, rolls/biscuits and corn from either Grandy’s or Church’s… it was Church’s 60% of the time 😉 I then grew up, moved out of TX. Finally moved back recently and I was very saddened to see that there’s hardly any Church’s Chicken anywhere anymore 😞 Found one attached to a gas station about 20 minutes away, went there so excited and was SO DISAPPOINTED! Food was way too greasy and just had a “funky” smell and taste. I chalked that up to the fact it looked/felt rundown and was at a gas station 😒 It’s also WAY MORE expensive than other chicken joints, never went back. Then, a new one opened up in Watauga, TX near my work and I was pumped! 😃 Once again, so excited, but the same thing. What the heck went wrong here Church’s??!! 😳 I know it’s not just me, I have talked to others that agree including my brother. They used to have the best food and was a staple for our family at least twice monthly. I wanted that nostalgia from my childhood, but all I got was overly greasy, funky tasting, way too expensive food for the portions received 😞

My dad made the best fried chicken ever! His favorite was always Churches. He took his recipe to the grave in ‘92 so this is the closest I can get to his memory!!! Absolutely love this place… Always have, always will!!!

Food is good but you are always shorted on the orders n I refuse to make a second trip back! So check your order thoroughly not just eyeball!

They won’t have it ready. At least at this location. Terrible customer service too. Makes you wait another ten or fifteen mins but it was supposed to be ready in the 15 min drive I had to get here.
