About

ClassPulse Studio is a live classroom response app for instructors. Ask a question, and your students' answers appear on your screen as a chart as they come in. Students answer from their own devices with the companion app ClassPulse Join, or in a web browser. Use it as a clicker-style audience response tool for classroom polling and formative assessment in lectures and seminars, and for team-based learning (TBL). How it works 1. Create a session. Studio shows a 6-digit join code, plus a QR code when the screen has space for it. 2. Students enter the code or scan the QR code in ClassPulse Join. No account or sign-in is needed. 3. Ask a multiple-choice or free-text question and watch the answers arrive. Questions and results • Multiple choice with 2–10 options: single answer, or multiple answers with an optional selection limit • Free text: one entry per student, or several • Live bar charts, and pie charts for single-answer questions • Response rate for each question • With a roster, a list of students who have not answered yet • In Named and Key only modes, tap an option to see who selected it • Cluster similar gathers free-text answers with similar meaning as they arrive • Organize with AI merges clusters by meaning and adds a heading after you close the question • Synonym dictionary: import your own list of abbreviations and alternate terms to use when clustering Session modes Choose a mode for each session: • Named: students enter an ID key (e.g., a student ID), and your screen shows the matching name from your roster • Key only: your screen shows the ID key, never a name • Fully anonymous: the ID key is not sent to the server, and you see counts and percentages only Rosters are stored only on your device and are not sent to the server. Team-based learning • RAT (Readiness Assurance Test): run an iRAT, then a gRAT (also known as tRAT), and compare individual and group answers • Two gRAT answer patterns: Everyone answers, or One representative • Retry gRAT questions • Repeat iRAT → gRAT in blocks within one session • Peer review after the gRAT on a 5-point scale, for groups of up to 10 students • RAT needs a group set imported from a CSV file and is not available in Fully anonymous mode More for your class • Attendance checks, timed or closed by you, with Present, Late, Away, and Absent (Named and Key only modes) • Course evaluation with items rated 1–5 and comments • Own-device check: ask students to confirm they are answering on their own device • Combined classes: use multiple rosters or group sets in one session • Monitor: a second device running Studio can follow a session in view-only mode after you approve it Records and exports • Past sessions are saved on your device • Export PDF, Excel (.xlsx), or CSV, or save all three as one ZIP • For Named sessions, choose whether names are shown or anonymized in exports • PDF and Excel follow the app language. CSV always uses Japanese headings, because it is the import format for ClassPulse Assessment. For reports in English, use PDF or Excel. AI features and your data Cluster similar and Organize with AI send the text of free-text answers to an external AI service (OpenAI) through the ClassPulse server. ID keys and names are not sent. You can turn Cluster similar off, and Organize with AI runs only when you tap it. Whether these AI features are available depends on the server you connect to. Good to know • English and Japanese. The app follows your device language, and you can change the language in the app. • After you leave the session screen, the session stays open for a set time (90 minutes on the default server) and then ends automatically. Home shows the time left for a session you can resume. • No account or sign-in. No ads. • Students need ClassPulse Join or its web version to take part.

What's New in ClassPulse Studio

1.1.5

October 10, 2026

- English interface reviewed: consistent terms (Named, Key only, Fully anonymous; instructor; join code). - The headings added by Organize with AI now follow Studio's display language (Japanese or English). - The user guide opens in your app language (English guide in English). - In English, the roster, RAT group set and dictionary import templates (CSV) use English headings. - On narrow screens, the export-names toggle in history and the attendance summary now wrap instead of being cut off.
