About
Cliptracer Range turns your iPhone into a rangefinder. Aim at a target you can see, a disc golf basket, a landed disc, a tree, a flag, and get the distance, elevation change, and grade without walking to it.
No laser, no Bluetooth gadget, no subscription. It works on parallax, the same principle surveyors use: you sight the target from two or more spots, and the app finds where the sight lines cross. Your movement between spots is tracked by camera-based AR motion tracking fused with the phone's sensors, which pins down your position far more precisely than GPS.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Aim the crosshair at the target and add a sighting. You fine-tune the aim on a frozen, zoomable frame, so hand shake never spoils the shot.
2. Move about 10 feet and sight the same spot again. Two sightings give you an answer; every extra one tightens it, and the app shows the accuracy estimate as a plus-or-minus figure in real time.
TWO WAYS TO MEASURE
Step aside: sight the target, take a few steps sideways, sight it again. Fast, done in seconds.
Walk it in: mark your starting spot, then walk toward the target and add sightings along the way. Just as accurate, often more, with no sideways angle to line up.
Can't see the target from where you stand? Set your start point first, then measure from wherever the view is clear. The result is still measured from your original spot.
WHAT YOU GET
Straight-line distance in feet or meters
Elevation difference between you and the target
Grade, so you know how much the shot plays uphill or downhill
An AR overlay showing your sight lines and the target, with a live accuracy readout
Pinch to zoom while aiming at small, far-away targets
Made for disc golfers who want real numbers for throws and drives, and just as handy for golf, hiking, hunting setup, or sizing up any open space.
Works on any iPhone. The camera is used only for live measurement; nothing is recorded or uploaded.
