Alarm malfunction - terrifying and very difficult for us all who rely on the alarm from Apple🙄

⭐ My experience with Apple has left me genuinely upset and disappointed.

I have always trusted Apple and never expected to find myself writing a review like this.

For some time now, I have been experiencing a serious issue with the alarm on my iPhone 17 Pro. My alarms have sometimes simply not sounded, despite being correctly set. I have checked everything I possibly could — alarm settings, volume, Focus/Sleep settings, updates and troubleshooting steps. I have followed Apple’s instructions and contacted Apple Support repeatedly.

When I first called Apple, I explained very clearly that this was not a minor inconvenience for me. I told the customer support representative that I was genuinely worried about losing my job because I was not waking up on time. I explained that my attendance at work had already been affected and that I had a meeting with my manager regarding the situation.

What hurt me most was the response I received.

While I was explaining how seriously this was affecting my employment and how stressed I was, the representative laughed and made jokes about the situation.

I honestly couldn’t believe it.

I was calling Apple because I was genuinely distressed and worried about the consequences this problem could have on my life, and instead of feeling listened to or taken seriously, I felt laughed at.

This problem has now affected much more than my work.

I have missed important medical appointments, blood tests, court proceedings and other important commitments because I relied on my phone alarm to wake me up. These aren’t things I can simply replace or redo without consequences. It has caused me an enormous amount of stress and anxiety.

This is now the third time I have had to contact Apple Support about the same problem.

Today, I was finally offered a callback so that the issue could be investigated. Previously, I was told to reset my phone and give it some time, and I followed those instructions because I trusted that Apple knew what it was doing.

And then something even worse happened.

After resetting my iPhone 17 Pro, the phone now will not turn on and will not charge.

I am now having to use my old phone just to be able to communicate and write this review.

I paid a significant amount of money for this iPhone because I trusted Apple to provide a reliable product. I understand that technology can have bugs and that things can go wrong. What I find unacceptable is how seriously this has affected my life and how I was treated when I tried to explain it.

I am keeping records of my Apple Support conversations, the repeated alarm failures, the troubleshooting I was instructed to perform, the impact on my work and the appointments I missed.

I am also aware that I am not the only iPhone user reporting alarm problems, which makes me even more concerned that this needs to be properly investigated rather than treated as an isolated incident.

I am now asking Apple to take responsibility for investigating what has happened, properly document my complaint and provide an appropriate resolution, including consideration of the consequences and losses I have experienced.

I am also considering my rights under UK consumer protection legislation and what remedies may be available to me if the issue cannot be properly resolved.

I genuinely hope someone senior at Apple reads this and understands that behind every support case there is a real person.

For Apple, this might be another technical issue.

For me, it has affected my job, my appointments, my responsibilities, my finances and my peace of mind.

I trusted Apple. Right now, I feel extremely let down.

No longer working

After years of working fine my alarm app has stopped ringing before 8am. All my alarms after 8 am seem to be fine. But for some reason the earlier ones don’t work anymore. I’ve deleted and reset them all, checked multiple times that they’re on. I turned off all my night time setting (sleep mode) checked through every setting. I’ve tried setting other devices in my house (iPad and another iPhone) and both those will not set alarms that ring. I’ve tried every troubleshooting recommendations online and nothing works.
After the last update it started working again for about 2 weeks and then stopped again. I thought I was crazy, so I set an alarm to ring during a time when I knew I’d be awake. And now I have a video of it ringing silent for 30 seconds. So sad and disappointing.

Do better

Lots of ux issues: Timer notification shows random information and is often unclickable; timer buttons are on opposite sides of the screen; alarms don't always go off; Siri adds an additional alarm, resulting in N alarms being created, and you can't mass delete alarms; world clock doesn't show any useful information like date, forces user to do math in their head; the list goes on...

Alarm never goes off 😩whyyy???

Like I said it’s so annoying do you get it APPLE ?

trash

how fkn hard is it to make a damn stopwatch app that doesn’t glitch. Billion dollar company btw

I don’t want permanent Dynamic Island

I hate almost everything about your Dynamic Island. It’s frustrating and not configurable in even this simple clock app. I’m distracted by the timer. I don’t want it there all the time. I’d rather not have it than to be forced to see it all the time. You need to fire your UX designers responsible for this feature it’s so atrocious.

Time

The time in America to Baghdad the time of Baghdad is always wrong

Never goes off

Every time I set an alarm it never goes off. I have my ringer all the way up and my phone is never on silent but it just won’t wake me up or ring

Need more Clock Face options!

I really would like a clock face easier to read, something with numbers on it… old school clock would be nice.

Fix this bug

My alarms don’t go off and when they do, it’s totally silent

Doesn’t work

Horrible, alarms don’t go off and it’s just annoying

Changes

Would like to be able to move the icons around. I mostly use the timer and alarm and wish I could switch the alarm icon with the world clock or just put in the order I wish.

Does not have my half family country Gatemala but still good

6/10

Timer Bug

Timer has a bug in 26.6. On the 3rd time pushing the repeat option when the timer pop up appears, it actually doesn’t appear and is a super tiny/miniature font pop up that isn’t clickable.

Ditch the swipe

Apple needs to ditch the swipe feature to turn the alarm off. This is such a difficult maneuver to make with one hand that it’s infuriating. I literally NEVER want to hit snooze but somehow THAT is the easy functioning regular button. Also, alarm volume seems to be dictated by your video playback volume instead of your ringtone volume (which could make it more consistent), so if you listen to YouTube on your way to sleep with the volume low, don’t expect a loud alarm! It’s idiotic. And don’t get me started on the timers! You used to be able to verbally tell Siri, through AirPods, to cancel or repeat a timer and now Siri cannot hear your voice at all while the timer alarm is going off. That’s a very bad change. Imagine hanging upside down on an inversion table, which requires very deliberate body movements to remain in place (and coming upright too quickly is physically dangerous), when the timer goes off and you need to repeat it for the next (horizontal) position- guess what? It’s not happening verbally! Siri ignores tf out of anything you say while that timer alarm is playing. And no AirPod button will shut off the alarm on its own. Honestly Apple’s technology has slowly been deteriorating for the past decade. They need to do better bc I am strongly considering an Android after 15+ years of iPhones.

Es horrible nunca hace lo que le dices , hace lo que quiere 👎

F Apple

I’m buying a digital alarm clock because why the f would I ever want a vibration alarm. I’ve waken up late so frequently it’s not intuitive. So f stupid I hate this feature. Some dumb loser probably thought this was a great idea. Have a way to set the volume and always have it play at that volume. You guys suck

Sad when apple iPhones own app can’t even work properly.

Multiple times recently my alarms will go off but with no sound at all. Considering I use them to get up for work and to take medication which both are pretty important, it’s really frustrating that it’s not working. It’s crazy to pay so much for an iPhone and the standard apps it comes with don’t work properly. Supposedly apple claimed they would fix it a few years ago but clearly they never did. It’s absolutely absurd and makes me want to get an android atp.

Its All Gone

All of my alarms just - gone! And yes the new ultralow alarm volume negated the purpose of an alarm anyway but still. Out of the blue I have no timer and no alarms.
