About
CoachMeSimple reads the running you have already done and tells you the one run to do next.
Most training plans are a PDF you download on day one and quietly stop following by week three. CoachMeSimple never gives you a plan. It gives you the next run — and when you have finished it, it works out the next one from what actually happened.
WHAT IT DOES
• Reads six months of running from Apple Health — distance, pace, heart rate, elevation — and picks up new runs on its own, so what you are looking at is never stale.
• Works out how fast you actually are, by fitting a critical-speed model to your own best efforts rather than asking you to fill in a questionnaire.
• Predicts your time at any distance, with an honest confidence range instead of a single flattering number.
• Tells you whether your goal is comfortable, realistic, ambitious, or not happening in the time you have — before you start, not eight weeks in.
• Trains you for the race you actually entered. A 5K block and a marathon block are not the same block, and here they are not: the long run, the weekly distance and the balance of speed against endurance all follow the distance you picked.
• Takes any goal, not just the famous four. 5K, 10K, half and marathon — or the 15K in your village, a ten-miler, anything from 1km to 50km.
• Gives you one session at a time: easy runs, long runs, threshold, intervals, hills, strides, recovery, rest. Each with a distance and a target pace range.
• Works around your life. Block the days you cannot run, cap your sessions per week, set your long-run day, and choose how hard you want this to be.
• Counts your cycling, rowing and gym sessions towards how tired you are, so a hard week off the road means an easier week on it. They never count as running: your paces, your predictions and your long run come from running alone.
• Explains itself. Every time a session differs from the textbook one it tells you why — your resting heart rate is up, you are in a down week, you are three days from a race.
• Watches the trajectory. If you drift off the line that leads to your goal it says so early, tells you which of distance, quality or fatigue is responsible, and offers revising the target before it offers training harder.
• Sends the session to your Apple Watch as a proper guided workout, with interval blocks and pace alerts.
• Answers Siri. "What's my next run?" "Am I on track?" "Tell CoachMeSimple I felt rough."
IT RUNS ON YOUR PHONE
There is no account, no server, and nobody else holding your health data. Your runs are read from Apple Health and stay on your iPhone. The coaching notes are written by Apple's on-device model. It all works in aeroplane mode.
HONESTY, ON PURPOSE
CoachMeSimple will refuse to predict a race time from too little running. It will tell you a marathon prediction is a hypothesis if your longest run is 14km. It caps how fast your training builds no matter how ambitious you set the dial, and it will not let a hard week on the bike buy you extra miles on the road. When your goal is out of reach it says so, and tells you the time that is not.
CoachMeSimple is a training tool, not medical advice.
