Simple Update request
Update: it’s been a year since posting this review. Still no update. Why so long between app updates? The last one was 5 years ago?! Technology has changed a lot in 5 years!
Last year we bought our Apex L Elite tub. We love it. The app is super handy… but I’m hoping for a simple update.
Please make the app have more options for the lights.
Our tub has a whole bunch of light colors when on the transition colors. But the app only lets us access like 6 colors. Many are far too bright, we’d like access the darker ones.
Please fix this.
Also, please add notifications on the app.
The control panel on the tub lets us know if it’s too cold (after filling), why can’t that be transferred to the app. Same with filter reminders.
This should also be an easy fix.

Does not keep connection
As mentioned in the title the spa control only periodically keeps connected. It is a pain to continually take the panels off and rest the module that only last sometimes not even 2 hours.
Absolutely horrible
It takes forever to establish the connection. The range is horrible. Pretty much useless
Useless
This app hasn’t worked since 4.0 came out. I can’t connect to my spa. When I try and run the initial setup it has a black window in the center of the screen that I think is supposed to have fields to fill out, but it’s just black. I can click different areas of the little black screen, but it doesn’t work. Grade F

Coast Balboa Wi-Fi Connect
This revision is a welcome improvement over the last one. This app now has landscape mode which is useful for wall mounted iPads for smartphones. This app work faster than the last version, although it does not appear to have full control over the hot tub (lights, music, etc). Overall this app works like it is intended to.
If you are having trouble using this app, check your WPS settings. Works well off wifi and cellar away from the home.
Only improvement would be if you didn’t have to have the serial number off the wifi controller to reset your password. A lot of people don’t write this down and their hot tub control panel may be difficult to reach in winter!

App sucks
How do you review an app that never works? I don’t understand why they continue to sell tubs with wifi in order to use an app that they refuse to fix so it works. I paid almost $400 for this feature and can’t even use it because the app is crap!!!! If you’re not going to fix the problem then give us our money back!!!

Just freezes
After it asks me to connect it just freezes and crashes. Installed multiple time same results.
App crashes and freezes up.
App doesn’t work at all for me. I can’t even set the current time, freezes up after I enter current time and try to select “Done”
Just okay. Needs tons of improvement. Spa control with Apple Watch would nice!
I have a 2018 Coast spa and the app connects quite reliably.
No iPhone X support in terms of scaling of the app. Would like to see it scaled to look right on iPhone X.

When changing settings the response between the app and the tub is slow. So if you change pump speeds and lights you often turn them on and off because the app is slow to update the status of the tub and app. So you tap the desired setting on the app and technically it’s properly sent the command to the tub but the app itself can take 10-20 seconds to update. By then you have tapped the setting again figuring the app was unresponsive and turned everything off again.
Generally speaking the app is graphically dated and has a cumbersome workflow.
Poor overall execution of a good idea. Pieces are there they just haven’t assembled them right so to speak.

Good but could be better
For example every time I open the app it asks me if I want to connect or go in demo mode. After the spa is connected to WiFi there is no need to ask about the demo mode, go straight and connect.
Crashing after IOS update
This use to work fine. Since the latest IOS update the app loads and crashes!

App works fine if you are connected to the same WiFi as the tub.
App doesn’t work at all if you have no wireless connection and you are trying to connect to tub using cell.
App works very unreliably if connected to a different WiFi network than the tub is on. Yea, weird! Response to changes is very slow, up to a minute, crashes often, and often doesn’t make the change without repeated attempts.
Overall, very close to useless, but with many attempts I can finally raise the temp on the tub so when I arrive, I can jump in.

Still needs Improvement
Not sure why the problems haven't been fixed. Slow response to turn lights and jets on and off. Temp change is just about impossible to operate. It’s very frustrating. Someone fix this already. 1000 bucks for the option when the tub was purchased; I still have to get my kids to turn the tub up and down manually. It’s making me not to ever want to buy another Coast spa again. At this point I’m not recommending these spas to anyone.

Updates needed
Connects fine - and you can control basic things on the tub - you can even set timers for the filters. But why can’t you set timers for the heat? We have solar panels so want to heat it during the day for when we get back, This should be automated as I sometimes forget!
This could be a brilliant idea!!!
I agree I have never been able to connect. So I still have difficulty trying to work out my hot tub's controls as there seems to be no instructions anywhere!!
Not working for me :(
No matter what i try i cant get this app to connect to my Spa. I can only launch demo. Otherwise it just tries to connect forever. Doesnt even timeout and let me configure the wifi so it might have half a chance? Any advice greatly appreciated please.
Horrible App
It wasn't too hard to connect the first time, but after 2 or 3 hours it stops connecting. Shutting off my hot tub and turning it on again allows the app to work, but it is easier to go out and adjust the controls manually than it is to "reboot" my spa whenever I want to change a setting.

Initially I got it to connect and work, but afterwards it does not connect at all.

Almost awesome... Revised
I really appreciate checking and controlling my spa remotely, but why do I have to choose to "Connect" and not enter "Demo Mode" EVERY TIME I launch the app???
Update: I've had it. Despite being within 20 feet of my primary router AND another access point, it disconnects every few days requiring a power cycle of the entire hot tub to get it to work. Useless when away.
