The cue sucks

The cue word is ridiculous. Having to overly exaggerate pronouncing it will lead you to doing many failed takes. Or the fact how it glitches even after it hears the cue before it shows you the next line of dialogue. It needs an update to fix these issues

I really like this app. The only downside is the silences that I add to the text keep slipping out of plan, which can mess things up whilst taping.

great for acting class!

been using it for like 2 years now and its been a faster way to learn my lines!

Nothing to help

Have extensive questions and went through the two quick start and tutorial which indicates certain features available but not a step by step of how to do them. A chat bubble just came up saying it didn’t recognize the language and my finger slipped to Spanish. I will never get this! Where is the back button? Where is even the chat bubble I just interacted with? What a mess!

FAQ

What does the coldRead app do?

This app is designed for actors to practice their lines independently. It simulates a scene partner by reading lines back to you after you deliver your cue. It also includes features for memorization, rehearsal, and self-taping auditions.

How does the line reading feature work?

You record each line of your script. When you speak the last word of your line (your cue), the app will automatically read the next line back to you, mimicking how a real reader would interact.

Is coldRead free to use?

The app offers a free tier where you can practice up to 8 lines, which is suitable for many co-star auditions. For unlimited access to all features, a subscription is required.

What devices is coldRead compatible with?

coldRead runs on iPhones, iPads, and Macs with Apple silicon (M-chips). A companion coldRead Remote app is also available for Apple Watch.

Can I use coldRead without an internet connection?

Yes, the app is designed to work offline. No internet connection, email address, or sign-up process is required to use its core functionalities. Speech recognition and line storage are handled directly on your device.
