The cue sucks
The cue word is ridiculous. Having to overly exaggerate pronouncing it will lead you to doing many failed takes. Or the fact how it glitches even after it hears the cue before it shows you the next line of dialogue. It needs an update to fix these issues

I really like this app. The only downside is the silences that I add to the text keep slipping out of plan, which can mess things up whilst taping.

Nothing to help
Have extensive questions and went through the two quick start and tutorial which indicates certain features available but not a step by step of how to do them. A chat bubble just came up saying it didn’t recognize the language and my finger slipped to Spanish. I will never get this! Where is the back button? Where is even the chat bubble I just interacted with? What a mess!

Doesn’t pick up on my cues
Doesn’t register my cue line, I have to manually constantly, which takes me out of the scene
Abandoned
I’ve been using this for at least 5 years, but it seems like it has been abandoned. The last update was three years ago. I’ll be cancelling my subscription and finding a new line learner app. Scriptmate: Line Learner seems promising.
Could be great
It’s ok. I’ve encountered this super annoying problem where every single time I go into the app I’m interrupted to leave a review and/or a star rating. Most of the time I would choose the “not now” option to write a review, but it was hounding me every single time, even though I gave a star rating. Then every single time it kept hounding me for what I’d already done. Tried uninstalling and re-installing. Restarting phone. Every single time, even after leaving stars. I’ll gladly up my review if they fix this. It’s been countless weeks this way, so I’m probably just going to try another app, but all in all, ColdRead HAS been helpful to learn lines. I just record everything, imitating my castmates, which also serves as some fun for me as I absorb the basics.

My go to!
I use it all the time! It is my go to to learn lines quickly and respond to the other characters. Acting is so much more than just knowing your lines. This app helps me learn and be present.
Best for Actors with no readers
Easy to use, I like the large print teleprompter because I’m kind of blind. And I like how it has a countdown timer for recording so you can get ready.
Crashes galore
It crashes in the middle of read throughs, ALL THE TIME. It is not worth the money. I’m stressing out about getting these lines memorized and this app is NOT helping. It used to work well. No longer.
Crashing + Doesn’t record with AirPods
Consistently crashes a few lines in. I’m on the latest version of iOS. Re-recorded thinking it was a corrupted file. Nope. Also disabling the option to record audio on AirPods is so stupid. The majority of the time I’m recording for the purpose of running lines, not to use in absence of a reader. I don’t care about the quality so long as I hear the line. What mic is used needs to be up to the user. What are you, my mom? I get more background audio when I record without headphones. Change it back.

Awesome but still could be improved
Awesome app that helps auditions for actors, could be much better if we could add multiple characters to the script and switch between them when we want to try other characters.

i pay too much for this app for it to be bugging out all the time. that being said, great tool to memorize your lines, i just wish it ran how it was supposed to for the price

This app has not been updated in 3 years. It stopped transcribing lines in the middle of recording them, and still doesn’t work despite following all the help instructions. There is no way to contact the developer for further assistance.
