You asked we listened. We now offer a model that is free and ad based if you don't want to subscribe to pro. We really appreciate everyone that's signing up to Pro Accounts. It's because of you that we can keep this app running and will be able to maintain much faster. As always feel free to reach out if you have requests or find missing Amiibos.

Mostly unnecessary changes just to justify monetization

The app previously held your collection locally just fine. The complete overhaul resulted in the complete loss of previous collections (frustrating but whatever). It’s not like there’s a record breaking amount of amiibo being released (although I am happy we are still getting them) so adding to the app periodically shouldn’t have been much work but now we have to pay for a glorified excel sheet that’s missing multiple amiibo/cards that I’m pretty sure the old app had. So pay money for a library less complete than the old unupdated app. Deleting the app.

Response from developer

Unfortunately with the change in development language it wasn’t possible for retain the collection data. The previous app was very painful to update… especially if it was adding a new category. It wasn’t worth hours and hours of development to keep it updated, which is why updating pretty much stopped. This app is much easier to maintain and build new features that users ask for. Sorry to see you go, however it was this or shut down the app completely.

Ruined a great app for a quick buck

Don’t bother using this when amiivault not only does what it does better, but it also does more, and is free. Sad to see this app end up like this

Response from developer

It was either this or shut down the app completely. Enough users have asked us to go this route to make it worthwhile. Sorry to see you go, however I’m confident in this new model and the app that this will become.

Finally updated and it wiped out everything

After a few years there's finally an update to the app. However, it has two fatal flaws. First, it completely wiped out my existing collection. Second, the free ad supported model is gone, and replaced with an annual subscription, otherwise you're severely limited to 10 items. An annual subscription for a collection tracker? Nope. Fortunately, there are other alternatives available that actually have been kept up-to-date.

Response from developer

Hello, Totally understand your frustration. It wasn’t possible to maintain users previous collection due to technology changes. With the new app, it’s far easier to keep updated and add new features… so the previous issue of minimal updates is solved. However the cost for the server, hosting, etc means a small $0.99 monthly fee or $10 per year. I totally understand if you don’t want to support. However there are supporters and I need to focus on them to expand more features and make this a truly great app for Amiibo collectors. It was either go down this path or kill the app entirely.

Not a great comeback story

App was great for just tapping and adding amiibo you collected. The updates were slow to add new amiibo but when the app is free, this is a non issue (at least for me). Even with the lack of updates in several months, I was still unbothered.

Now, the app comes back with a brand new update. And it’s become pretty much useless to anyone.

You get to manually add just up to 10 amiibo to your collection for free. After that you can either pay a monthly fee or yearly fee to unlock the ability to add more than 10 (this is never unlimited as that would imply an infinite amount of amiibo). The upgrade does offer other things like cloud back up, which is nice but unnecessary to me (there’s other apps that do what this did before the update and for free).

The app is useless to me now, so it’s been deleted and will be forgotten. I had another app that I use and use it to scan the amiibo to add to the collection that serves the same purpose.

Thanks for providing the free app, it was fun while it lasted.

I understand your frustration, however it was either this or close the app down. I had to spend significant time building out a new platform that ensure it’s always up to date, server costs, domain costs, etc. If it was free for me it would be free for you as well.

Greedy

App was originally free. After this update you can only track 10 amiibos. Anymore requires a subscription. Do not use this app.

Greedy is expecting everything for free at the expense of others.
