Confused as to all the great reviews

I can color an object but I cannot zoom in for more precise coloring. When I use the eraser, once again, without being able to zoom in on the object it’s impossible to erase with precision.

When I import an image, it automatically removes all the color from it that was initially there. I don’t want that. And there’s no way to prevent it. I just want to retouch a specific part of the image and keep everything else. And overall I just don’t understand how it works.
