Einfach krass

Color Study

Amazingly simple to use

Excellent

WAY better than expected. Finally found an extremely useful multi-tool for identifying value & color & providing mixing ratios. Every feature in this app is very useful.
Pro version soooo worth it, honestly has reignited my excitement in landscape painting with oils. All around great learning experience with every use. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fabulous simple to use app for artists - painters, sketchers and more

Very intuitive. Makes it easy to “see the forest for the trees”. Still squinting? Use Color study instead. Designed by someone who knows what artists need and understands how to make it work. Block-in, tonal study, notan and more. Understand what you’re looking at… finally!

Excellent!

Love this app. I’ve been looking for something like this for ages. I teach art online for beginner and intermediate artists. While I like to choose my own colours, this app speeds the process up for me which means I can get on and create and film my tutorials.

Awesome

What a wonderful tool to explore, this app has so many surprising elements and features, I love how I can make my own palette and mix it to my liking, it’s playful and engaging, and so affordable, I am very happy to found this app, thank you so much.

Blown Away

This is an incredible tool for the 2d artist! It’s not only amazingly helpful, a time saver, but it is making me a much much better painter - hats off to the writers of this amazing app! I hope you make a fortune - you deserve it in this one!

A great help

A well thought out app to help painters - it has all the features I was looking for.

I feel like a professor

it's like having God in in your studio

Color Study review

I have used other art analysis apps, this one has everything an artist needs!

Absolutely awesome

Seriously love this app. The value tool is so useful, as well as the simplify tool too. The paint mixing is pretty awesome too, especially seeing watercolors being added. The dilution amount is so awesome too. Seriously worth paying for the extra tools.

Great results

I’m a painter, and this app has made it much easier for me to choose the palette of colours for my watercolour work. It has a ton of cool features and is very easy to use

Great app

This is a great app for artists. It simplifies, shows values, and helps with paint mixing and colour matching. It’s seriously a really good app,

However, yes, it’s free to use, but to use all of the features you have to pay for a subscription, which is fine; however, I think it’s quite expensive. $6.99 per month or $34.99 yearly; it’s just to experience. I would be okay paying like $2.99 per month, or paying 20 dollars for the full app.

You can still do a lot without the subscription, so I'd still recommend it and give it 5 stars; it’s just that the subscription is pricey

Great app

I love this app, it has everything I was looking for!

Spectacular

This has taken me further in making things ‘click’ in my head than any other app or training session. Hands down. I love this app so much. 10 stars! Well worth the $$.

Mixed feelings - not geared towards watercolors

This is a great app for understanding composition, values and basic drawing of a reference photo. I am a watercolor artist and would absolutely love this if I could build my palettes based on the pigments I have. Most of the mixes require white to be added which is not generally used in watercolor.

Response from developer

Thank you for the thoughtful feedback. I’m glad the app has been useful for understanding values and composition. You make a very good point about the app not currently having a dedicated watercolor mode, in which lighter values would be achieved through dilution and the white of the paper. This is helpful feedback, and I'll keep it in mind for future updates.

Could be good but needs refining.

Some good features but there is one underlying problem with this app. I have a fixed palette and have spent a lot of money developing it I don’t want to be recommended lots of different paints rather I want to mix the colours using what I already have. Also colour name is less important than the pigment number …. 2 paints with the same name can be made using different pigment and handle very differently.

Response from developer

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback. The app is intended to generate recipes using the paints in your selected palette, and each paint in the palette editor should include pigment information where available. Below the recipe, you may also see optional paint suggestions that could help achieve a closer mix, but those can be turned off by selecting “Don’t suggest paints.” It sounds like something may not be working as expected, or could be clearer. If you don’t mind contacting me at support@brushlabsllc.com, I’d really like to understand what you’re seeing so I can improve things.

Excellent for oil/acrylic

Wonderful app, really useful to be able to pin point colours and quickly identify the mixes. 10/10

Response from developer

Thank you so much for the kind review! I’m really glad the app has been useful for identifying colours and how to mix them.

Wonderful app

This is an app. I’ve been waiting for her for a long time. The pallet finding in the mixing recipes to find the appropriate color you need is something that I now can’t live without. I have never been great at mixing colors to find what I need and this helps so much. 10 stars!

Response from developer

Thank you so much for the kind review! Happy to hear the paint mixing feature has been so useful.
