I’m wondering why the watchOS compass application is not standalone from iPhone and iOS?

So bad app, please do not use it! Not worth it, extremely unreliable app.
No True North
Doesn’t allow True North (for telescope astronomy), only Mag North
Solved Frozen North
I read a lot of reviews from people whose compass was frozen on north. As was mine. Then I read a review for a different compass app and it said “just make sure your phone case doesn’t have a magnet.” Duh. I took my phone out of my case and voilá!
