What's New in Confess

1.9.7

August 21, 2026

Confess now speaks Spanish. The full examination of conscience, the confession guide, the Act of Contrition, every litany and saint prayer — sourced from official Church texts, never machine translation — plus the entire interface, in Latin American Spanish. Set your iPhone to Spanish and everything follows. We also corrected two litany texts along the way: the Litany of Loreto was missing the invocation "Mother of mercy" (added by Pope Francis in 2020), and one Holy Name invocation was split in two. Confess is still free, still has no account, and still sends nothing off your phone.

Actually perfect

All is great! I have edited to make my review have ZERO suggestions. It does track. You can set a reminder to prepare for confession. Examen questions are SUPER clear as opposed to other apps. Yes or no and unsure response is wonderful. Really really love this app. Good job!

Great app! Especially for the scrupulous

I really struggle with doing an exam regularly with out it being guided. Its hard to remember everything I need to say in the confessional. I get worried I'll forget something and then my scrupulosity gets the best of me. Most physical guides are comprehensive and are meant to be used right before confession. This means 15-30 mins each time. Hard to build a daily habit with that. CONFESS takes all the guesswork out of it by letting you save what you want to remember for confession throughout the week and keeping it all in one place. There are a few minor bugs with the notes feature. As well, its not compatible with Large Text users, but overall its great! Honestly, this is good enough to be a paid appz

Best Catholic app to use and free?!

Having the choice between a short version and a long version was interesting and different from other apps I've seen, where you just get a checklist and go through it. Being presented with each question one at a time allowed me to really think about what I was sorry for and learn from it. I realized I am far from perfect in areas where I thought I had already mastered some of the Ten Commandments. Thank God I still have time to work on myself.

Fantastic

Felt like my confession was so much better after using this, also really like the prayers and other sections in the app. Exactly what i was looking for

Almost Perfect

I love this app, but you should have an option to count the mortal sins before moving on in the guided mode instead of having to go back.

Thanks for making such an intuitive app! A dark mode would be good too but the lack of it doesn’t hinder the experience.

Response from developer

Hi Dylan - Thanks for the feedback. I added dark mode to version 1.9.4 as well as added an option to count the mortal sins. via the guided mode (hope that's what you meant. Thanks for the feedback. If you update to 1.9.4 you'll see the changes.
