better than child version, love it

if you've purchased the version for younger kids you should know that this version provides more specific explanations for "incorrect" answers", a big improvement in my book.

I noticed one reviewer complained about explicit content, but perhaps was not aware that adult controls are available to lock the teen out of explicit content. I like the option to use the drug/alcohol/sex related conversations. Teens are exposed to conversations like "i cant believe I cant believe i slept with him" on tv or movies if not in real life. By having this material available it opens the door to discussion about those topics, even if the teen is not exposed to those types of conversations personally. Obviously professionals would seek parent agreement before on explicit content.

Love this app!

This has great and relevant topics for teenagers. This is a helpful tool to teach conversation skills and expand conversations and discussions. I like the multiple choice and ability to record the voices so that they can be sent to others. It's also great for articulation practice!!

Inappropriate/explicit content

I purchased this to use with teens and in one of the scenarios a girl says, "I can't believe I slept with him. " This is very inappropriate and users should be warned that the content is explicit.

Pthor

This app has it all. I use it with teenagers with hearing loss. It allows for auditory comprehension work, has written stimuli to be paired with auditory, allows for speech practice and students' use of taped responses for making judgements and corrections. The pragmatics work is the icing on the cake. For my students, some of the speech is too rapid. I wish I could change the rate of speech in settings but overall it is a fabulous therapy tool.

Nice tool

I like the topics, ability to record conversational turns. I would like more feedback given for incorrect answers--sometimes correct/incorrect are hard to predict & a little more explanation is warranted. Definitely recommend.

Good not great

This app has much potential. I did agree that some of the responses were not really great reponses. The ones they are supposed to choose that is.....are not always what would be appropriate and current in responses. It would be a great feature to be able to change the responses or simply remove the ones that the user felt innappropriate. Overall most were good though and Mobil Education Store is a top notch app provider.

Practically perfect in every way

As an SLP specializing in adolescents with social communication disorders, I found this app to be nearly perfect for teaching the give and take of conversations. I especially like the history feature which allows us to analyze the building blocks of conversations. My higher functioning students like duplicating the structure of the conversations with different topics. Suggestion: I would really like to have the ability to slow the speech rate for both the teens depicted and the audio output of the choices. Many students need a slower rate in order to understand and imitate what was said. Please consider in an update. Thank you.

Fabulous for older students

I love this app for older students! The topics and conversation options are very realistic and applicable. I also like that the conversations go for more than just 2-3 turns. A " must have" for working with teens!

Great app for teaching teens

I love how this app has so many customizable options! Parents and educators alike will appreciate this app, which has the ability to have multiple users/profiles. It has various topics to choose from as well as a randomize option. The voices in the app sound like real teens which makes the learning more realistic. Great app!

Great teaching tool

This is a great app to help people learn responses to everyday conversations, when responses don't come easy. What a great tool to help kids learn. The app works great and features a wide variety of topics. It also has a great video tutorial to help navigate and learn.

Conversation Builder Teen

By Papadiz

Nice program, giving multiple choices for response to pattern after. Program worked as anticipated.

Excellent App

This app is just what I've been looking for with with older students on conversation skill. The developer did a great job in choosing topics relevant to Jr and Sr. High School students. The pictures and auditory are of actual students which makes it more real for participants.

Great for Teens

This is an excellent app for working on conversation building and social skills with teenagers. There are a wide range of age appropriate topics to choose from, with parental controls to block more sensitive topics if desired. I love that the app gives feedback when an inappropriate choice is made, and that it can be used to practice conversations with one person or a group. It would be nice if there would be an option for the choices to be automatically saved into a conversation, rather than having the student record it in his/ her own voice. This would allow the app to be used with nonverbal students as well.

Love it

I think this one is better than the original in the overall setup. Some of the features of this app that are really neat are the history button which displays the conversation like you see on the iPhone messages, the info button which tells you what each conv. is about, explanations as to why certain responses don't work and the ability to have each choice read to you by an appropriate voice. Some topics should be viewed with caution as they may be inappropriate for some kids. I skipped the conversations about drugs, but I think they are still important topics that can be addressed with the consent of a parent or by a parent. If you have concerns with particular conversation topics then I suggest emailing the developer. He works really hard on these apps and he would probably appreciate appropriate critical feedback. Overall, I really enjoyed using this app as well as the original.

Excellent

This app is a great way for teens to practice their conversational skills. I appreciate the parental controls. You can put a password on the app to skip the conversations about sex and drugs. Some of the conversations and responses did not hold up to my recommendations for a teen but I use it to show different options. It opens up conversation topics that are difficult to bring up.

glad for teen level app

This app is good for use with teens. I thought that some of the answers were open to varied responses. Overall I think it is a good app for teens. Glad that you can have parental controls.

Great conversation app for Teenagers

I have gotten to try this app with pre-teens and teens in a life skills class and they really enjoyed it. They struggle to have appropriate conversations with their typical peers at times and I think this app will facilitate good practice for different situations.
I particularly liked that it will track users, responses, record response, be used individually and with groups, and allow for a variety of conversation topics. I would like to see a way to create additional conversation topics, but that is something that would be great in a future version. Highly recommend this app! It does exactly what the iTunes description says!

Good app

I really like this app! It is great for those students who struggle with social skills. I also think it will be great for the building of vocabulary!

For older and mature teens

I want to start by saying this is a wonderful app for helping a teen with social situations and proper conversations. Throw in some moral lessons as well. A+. I originally got this to use with my 13 yo but she is not quite mature enough for many of the conversations, even with the parental controls. This will be an app for in a couple of years for sure. The parental controls are great and a big plus for me. One of the things that I thought was a nice touch was that you or your teen could record their own responses in the conversation and then play back the whole conversation at the end, so you can hear the whole flow. You can set it up for more than 1 person to track and you can track progress as well. As an adult I even got something out of the app in helping me to be more aware of conversations that I have with others. Nice! Highly recommended! But I do recommend you got through some of the conversations before a young teen does.

Great app

As usual, Mobile Education Store has put out a great app. It is age appropriate and yet also provides verbal instructions for the kids who may have delayed reading ability. Some of the responses were confusing for me, though, so I hope that these may be beta tested more with typical kids in the future.
