Needs free trial

Love Ethan and his channel so when it said I needed a subscription I thought it was worth a try. This is a lovely app and well thought out; I wish it was cheaper monthly so that it is more accessible to a wider base of people.

This app is definitely very good and could get a large following with proper pricing and advertising.

Confusing?

I don’t understand how this app works. I really like Ethan, i really want him to be successful. But i can’t figure out how to use this app. Im struggling to figure out how this app is going to be helpful for me plan my weekly menu.

Paid and not told

I mean if your willing to pay go ahead but if it told me before hand instead of me making a whole account than I don’t know It could be good.

Paid app, not free app

The app forces you to create an account before any indication whatsoever that you have to pay to use it. The product page indicates the app is free and doesn’t make it clear that you can’t even proceed past the launch screen without paying. Seems to be a very misleading way to get inflated downloads and user base. There isn’t even an obvious way to delete my account after deciding I don’t want to pay for an app I thought was free.

No Trial Period?

I like the concept of this app, but I think they are missing out by not having a trial period or demo mode before making a monthly/annual commitment to explore the app.
I would also like to see implementation or integration with nutrition tracking (for athletes/weight management/diabetics/other dietary restrictions)

Perfect app for me!

I signed up for this app a few weeks ago and I just love it!! I’m already a pretty proficient cook (while trying to balance taste, macros, visual appeal etc), but I do like to mix it up quite frequently and this app makes it so easy to do all of these!! I often search for a particular ingredient in the app and I get a number of simple recipes to make with it- brilliant!!

No Free Trial

I LOVE Ethan’s channel and the COOK WELL website, but I can’t justify spending money on a product when I don’t even know what the said product is offering. This app needs a free trial so prospective users can explore before purchase.

A trial would be good

I really don’t mind paying a subscription if the service is good, but not even offering a trial for a week or so feels stingy

£9.99 Subscription Model

I love Ethan & the team’s stuff, and I imagine it’s a lot of work to develop a product / app alongside a full time job.

Seen the kickstarter, great funding / backing.

I can’t speculate another £10 / month subscription for a tool to cook and meal plan and do grocery planning. There doesn’t seem to be a trial period to see how the app is before pledging £10 / month or commiting to a whole year for a much more reasonable price.

You also need to handover your email and verify before you hit the paywall.

I use Samsung Food for free to find recipes, add them to my weekly shopping list and it organises them by isle. It’s not perfect, and Ethan’s recipes are amazing, but it’s free.

I’d happily pay like £20 for the whole app once? Even if new “packages” of recipes keep out as an in app purchase for like £10 like buying a cookbook, I’d be cool with that too - like DLC. Like the “indulgence high protein” set for £10 and it had like 8 recipes and a tutorial video for each or something.

I’ll keep using the cookwell website for inspiration and have AI make a shopping list for me with the links.

I can absolutely see the appeal!

But not as yet another subscription model at that price point for me personally.

Best of luck though Ethan and team! :)

No free version

App that wants 13 dollars a month in this economy is insane. A cooking app that wants that much is beyond that considering how many FREE apps and websites we have for cooking. You can't even use like a free version with adds. The only reason it is not 1-star is because the idea behind it is decent but asking that much is criminal and greedy. We have better alternatives. Don't waste your money!

It’s a good app

The one star reviews are haters who expect everything for free. Reviews like that shouldn’t count.
Yes it’s paid, but it’s high quality content. My only gripe is that it’s very feature full, and not super intuitive to use

In app purchase

The in app purchase appears to be required to even use this app

Hidden Subscription

I don’t mind subscriptions, but what I hate about this app is that it doesn’t tell you it is a subscription or the price until after you go through and make an account and put in your email. It feels manipulative.

Too expensive

£9.99/month isn’t worth it in my opinion, most people you are encouraging to learn how to cook don’t have the money to spend £9.99 a month on an app that is basically just a fancy meal planner.

Subscription very expensive

Looked like a great app but before i could even see if it was something id use i was expected to spend $15 a month to subscribe. That’s as much as a streaming service. Utterly ridiculous pricing. They need to offer a free service that can unlock certain features through a FAR cheaper paid subscription

Subscription Only

Requires an email before it even tells you the cost or requires a subscription. Pretty scummy. Not everything needs to be a subscription.

Best Meal Prep App

My husband and I struggle with meal prep and we can both be a little picky about taste AND textures. This app outlines perfectly the ingredients for these fantastic, easy to follow recipes; at the same time doing a great job at showy the how and why behind these meals. We’ve loved all the recipes we’ve tried so far. They are easy to follow and can adapt to our needs and preferences. The calendar is very practical and I love that I can check it before I leave work in case we are missing an ingredient. So happy with this purchase. Keep up the great work!

Subscription only

I was very excited for this app, have been following along with the YouTube channel. Was disappointed when I found out it’s subscription only. The app seems great, but i don’t think it’s something I’d pay for.

Has potential

Definitely a very exciting idea that I feel that the developers are still trying to figure out and how to nail this kind of medium. Hoping future updates will bring about more polish to the user experience.

Worth it for me

Been in such a slump cooking wise and this has been a huge help, helping me plan meals and groceries and but also giving me a place where I can track what I actually end up eating. Great for inspiration as well (love the “I have X, so I should cook Y” format). I don’t need detailed recipes most of the time, but still appreciate some guidance, so the framework style recipes give me the perfect amount of info that can still be creative, but the full recipes are still there if I want more specifics.
