A very good sounding synth, but preset system is problematic
Response from developer
Are you placing your custom presets in your own bank and not altering the default presets? The default presets will be replaced each time we install a new version of the app. This bank is reserved for me to add and expand upon the presets that ship with Copperhead. I will certainly check into whether there is an issue with other banks but since I have multiple people working on new preset packs I would have thought they would have come across this by now if it was a general issue. Have you uninstalled the app at all? When uninstalling all your presets will be removed. NOTE: Just performed a couple of re-installations and all my custom banks (I have 6) and the contents of my user bank are intact, so I can only assume you saved your presets in the 'Default' bank.

Might be the most feature packed synth along with woodman's wood synth.
Love this one
Nice butâŠ.

Great Synth with Fun Features
There are amazing features. Not least is the preset banks by the amazing sound designer Spidercemides! You can essentially dump all his presets into a favorites folder. But donât. If you decide to remove a preset from the Favorites folder youâll end up deleting the preset from just about everywhere. A small bug which Iâm sure will be fixed. I needed to reinstall the app to recover the presets.
Another amazing feature is the waveform editor. It has something Iâve never seen before, a slider for each fundamental of a sound wave! This is a big deal. You can design some extraordinary sounds and learn about how sounds are made with this tool. Iâve never seen it before and i have a ton of synths. One thing missing however is a way to save the sounds youâve designed. It will be there when you save the preset of course but it would be nice to develop an original sound library.
The only very minor problem i have is the the menu diving needed to open some critical windows like âeffectsâ and âfavorites.â Itâs only three taps to get to the window but other designers have brought you these windows a bit less clumsily.
Another problem is thereâs no way to access the developerâs page⊠if it even exists. Iâm surprised because this is a major developer with an awesome offering of apps. If you hit the developerâs website link youâll basically be forwarded to a management consultant company which Iâm pretty sure is the furthest thing from music as a business can be.
Overall, a great synth and an incredible value!
Beautiful synth
MPE baby!
Please test the AU version for Logic Pro on macOS
Best synth Iâve come across
Great soundsâŠbut how do we report the bugs??
But itâs got some small issues here and there, like any software.
My main gripe is thereâs no documented way to contact the developer.
4pockets.com goes to an blank web page.
âSupportâ options on the App Store go to Karl MarketingâŠa lot of good that does.
Look in the online helpâŠno mention of support channels.
Whereâs the main place Paul goes to see user postings of the bugs theyâve encountered?? Anybody know?
5 star synth
Much better than it looks, and it gets very nice updates too.

Astounding value

The full package
This would have been my perfect first synth. I remember all too well not knowing my VCO fro my LFO and not having any sense at all how my VCF fit into the picture. I canât even imagine how much learning time I could have save by having access to Copperhead and the matching masterclasses.
The layout works as well on iPhone as iPad, both in standalone and as an Audio Unit. That makes it really suitable to use as my main workhorse synth.
As with all 4Pockets app, the consistency in design ensures that learning one app transfers to all of the other ones, which is always appreciated and helps me make the most out of my music time.
Highly recommended, and if you are new to synths - donât shy away from this one because it doesnât have that ânewbieâs first synthâ look. In a couple of days youâll be synthing more than youâd ever believe possible.
