About

cram lock locks the apps that eat your day until you learn one flashcard from your real class. answer it, get 15 minutes, then it locks again. failed two classes at 18. spent a decade at meta and tiktok building the thing that did it. built cram lock to undo it. how it works - pick the apps that wreck you (tiktok, instagram, games, whatever). cram lock uses apple's screen time controls to block them. - when you try to open one, you get a flashcard instead. - answer it, unlock, and get back to it. tap the lock to relock early. - want longer? set the unlock window anywhere from 5 to 60 minutes. built for berkeley first-years every card is written to the current syllabus and links to its source so you can go deeper: - chem 1a - bio 1a - math 51 (formerly math 1a) - cs 61a - data c8 - physics 7a - math 52 (formerly math 1b) - cs 61b - chem 1b - physics 7b pick your classes. narrow to a module or a single topic before a midterm. thousands of cards, ten cards per topic, no filler. what it is not - not a timer you can dismiss. - not a productivity dashboard. - not a chatbot. every card was written from the course sources and checked. a card streak counts every card you get through, so the number only goes up. three looks: black on white, white on black, or green on black in monospace for the 61a and 61b crowd. free, and it stays free all ten courses are free. every card, every class, no trial, no card required. no ads, no selling your data, no nagging. we think the lock should be free -- you already have enough working against you. about the subscription you'll see listed it is not for the classes. those are free and they stay free. it will unlock uploading your own flashcards -- any course, any school -- which is in development. nothing in the app charges you today, and the ten built-in courses will stay free when it arrives. privacy cram lock never sees which apps you block or what you do in them. screen time permissions are handled entirely by ios on your device. support: cramlock.app privacy policy: https://cramlock.app/privacy.html terms of use (EULA): https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/

What's New in Cram Lock

1.5.32

October 13, 2026

the biggest update since launch. everything below arrived since the version you have. **cards became a collection.** every topic has its own painting — 458 of them, one per topic across all ten courses. the cards you have studied live in the grimoire, and a card turns silver at three correct answers and gold at five. gold means you actually know it, not that you got lucky. **every course quizzes you now.** all ten, multiple choice, with the explanation and the source link on the answer side. a wrong answer explains itself and makes you wait a few seconds before you try again. **harder cards, not just more of them.** every course now has tier 2 on top of its core deck — the "apply it" questions rather than the recall ones. the harder ones sit on the same topics as the cards you already have, so a topic gets deeper rather than the deck getting wider. 6,731 cards across the ten courses. **packs.** studying earns them, and a pack is cards you do not own yet. the counter to a guaranteed rare is always visible. spare copies turn into dust, and dust makes a card you are missing. **mindgames.** an optional solo mode with nothing to do with the lock. you take a deck and a familiar through a run of legs — a map with branches, elites that hit harder, relics you carry, and rules that change leg to leg. runs survive you leaving mid-dungeon. hearts are spent in quarters now, so a miss costs a quarter of a heart instead of a whole one — twelve misses to lose a run from a standing start, where it used to be three. **your familiar.** pick one and it works a deck with you until every card in it is gold, then offers you the next. **music.** eleven lofi tracks, named after berkeley study spots. off by default, and it never fights whatever you were already playing. fixes worth naming: - home used to say "locked · 3 apps" when screen time permission had been revoked and nothing was actually being blocked. it now says screen time is off and where to fix it. - wrong answers used to pay exactly as much as right ones. they pay nothing now, and a card you got wrong no longer counts toward your daily goal. - a card used to turn gold after five *views*, so five wrong answers made it gold. it takes five correct ones. - saying no to screen time no longer traps you in setup. - setup works at the largest accessibility text sizes. - a handful of cards were wrong or pointed at the wrong textbook page. they are fixed, and the checker that finds them was fixed too. ten berkeley first-year courses, all free, all still free. every card still links to the page it was written from.
