Spellings turns the weekly list from school into something a child will sit down and do.
A parent types in the words. The app reads each one aloud, uses it in a sentence, and gives the child a keyboard to spell it on. Anything spelt wrong comes round again. A test passed first time earns gems to spend.
Built for children aged 5 to 12.
HOW IT WORKS
Add a child, add this week's test, type in the words. That is the setup.
Learning reads each word aloud and puts it in a sentence, so a child hears the word and sees what it means. Letters land in their boxes as they type, and anything they get wrong comes back round until it sticks.
The test reads each word once, the way the real one at school will. At the end they can practise the ones they missed.
PRACTICE BEYOND THE WEEKLY LIST
Explore holds the curriculum word lists for the United Kingdom, Ireland, the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Seven school years each, grouped by the spelling rule they teach, about 1,300 words in each and more than 7,000 example sentences across the six. Words are read in the accent that matches the curriculum you choose.
FOR THE PARENT
The family dashboard shows every child's week on one screen: days practised, tests taken, accuracy, and the words to watch.
Each child's progress compares this week with last, lists the words they keep missing, and keeps every test they have taken. Export it as a PDF when school asks how it is going.
Parent screens sit behind a sum or a four digit PIN, with Face ID or Touch ID if you want a quicker way in.
REWARDS WORTH HAVING
A perfect test earns gems. Gems buy rare avatars, keyboard colours and streak freezes. Practising on consecutive days builds a streak, and a freeze covers the day that gets missed. Levels and achievements sit behind all of it.
SHARE IT WITH THE FAMILY
One subscription covers the whole family. The other parent gets every child, the dashboard and the settings on their own device. A child can have the app on their own iPad or iPhone showing only their spellings, with no parent screens on it.
A child is never asked to upgrade. Anything Premium shows a padlock and does nothing at all. Buying starts on a parent screen, behind the parent check.
FREE AND PREMIUM
Free covers one child, their weekly tests, and a practice set from their own school year.
Premium adds up to eight children, mixing school years in Explore, choosing the spelling rule to practise, the trickiest words, the full test history, and sharing with the family. Pay monthly, pay yearly, or pay once and keep it.
PRIVACY
No adverts. No analytics. No accounts to create. Nothing is sent to us, because there is nowhere for it to go: what a family types stays on their devices and in their own iCloud.
Works on iPhone and iPad, and with an iPad keyboard case.
SUBSCRIPTION DETAILS
Premium is available as a monthly subscription or a yearly subscription, and also as a one off purchase that keeps it for good. Prices are shown in the app before anything is bought.
A subscription renews automatically unless it is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Payment is charged to your Apple Account on confirmation of purchase, and the renewal is charged within 24 hours of the end of the period. Subscriptions can be managed or turned off in your Apple Account settings after buying.
