Beyond mathematical odds

As an experienced real cards/cribbage board player I gave to express my dismay at the totally mathematical improbability of the poor hands I am dealt playing your online game. It’s to the point of being ludicrous.

History only good thing

Update: Resume games not working, history now crashes the app. Looks like he's abandoned the app... no support. Shame, it could be a good app...Stay away unless/until he commits to a huge fix.
It is extremely weighted toward huge hands. Played 100 games to get a feel for it, continually generates outrageous runs and cuts into double runs far to many times. I've been playing competitive cribbage over 40 years and can tell you this is NOT realistic cribbage. Fix this aspect of it and this will be a very good simulation, until then if you enjoy 12-16 hands on a continuous basis, this is for you.
Follow Up: Played the Easy opponent for 10 games, skunked it 9 times. Received ridiculous hands and cuts similar to what the "Hard" AI was getting against me. In short the AI is horrid. Want my money back and will only get this app again IF they change this horrid, weighted AI in the future to ALL random cards. Give me a break. Have yet to see a decent AI in any of the cribbage apps, do like the history in this one and that's it!

Not so good.

I have been playing for a long time and I am frustrated. Rarely get a cut while brainy gets 10-24 count hands much of the time. Also don't put good cards in crib as you will be burned almost every time!

Good App to learn Cribbage

This app has been fun and was very helpful to learn cribbage. However, as I got better I see that it is far from fair. I agree with earlier reviewer that the cards are often stacked against the player. Unbelievable successive hands were had continuously by the computer. I suggest that it uses a true random generator to pick remaining cards from a single deck.

Willy's review

It is a great game and it makes it easy to score.

Love this app.

Love it. It taught us how to play

Cribbage Craze

This is the BEST learning tool I could want. I watched the YouTube video several times. Then found the free download of Cribbage Craze. GREAT, now I too can have fun in the airport and flying...and play it to exercise my mind at home alone.

Good Learning Tool

I'm just learning to play cribbage. So far, so good.

Cheats

Game cheats while pegging. It will often make illogical moves (like pegging to 21) or skip logical moves (like making a 15) because it sees what you have in your hand and can counter it. Not much fun when you figure that out.

Excellent game!

This is an excellent and well designed game. Clearly a lot of thought went into it. Its interface is intuitive and attractive and the game play is a lot of fun. The builtin little tutorial at the beginning is handy for new players and introduces the game well.
The absolute best part of this game is the way the AI is implemented. It's actually realistic, dealing "real" hands from the deck rather than all of these other cheater games that deal completely ridiculous hands. This has now become my new favorite cribbage/-game on my phone. 👍👍

My only suggestion would be to make the card faces/values a little bit bigger/easier to see. I can imagine the cards being somewhat difficult to see for some folks; especially on a phone screen.

And an ipad version is definitely needed as well :)

CribCraze

Just trying to re-learn cribbage to play it with my grandsons. This app is great and addicting. Having lots of fun playing it.

Very good

I have tried 5 different cribbage apps and this is the best one so far. After a few games, the stat feature made it clear where my game was weak. Highly recommend.

Best in History

This is an updated review after playing for two months. If you want to improve you game, Cribbage Craze is the best Cribbage app available for several reasons, but primarily for the historical statistics kept for all games.

The AI opponent is very strong and I sympathize with a previous reviewers complaint that the AI is cheating, but all you need to do is look at the history and know how to interpret the statistics. Cribbage card game statistics are widely studied and fascinating to many. If you use them to measure your game to any of your opponent's (including the AI), you can see where the real issue lies. The stats are very accessible and easy to interpret.

After the first 25 games, my win percentage was 40%. The stats revealed the difference between my play and the AI was in pegging and the crib scores, not in the hand , or the cut. I started to pay more attention to discarding, pegging, and board position.

After 52 games, my stats vs. Brainy's (computer):

Me: Avg Hand = 7.49, Avg Crib = 4.06, Avg Peg = 2.78, Avg Cut = 3.51

Brainy: Avg Hand = 7.40, Avg Crib = 4.19, Avg Peg = 2.81, Avg Cut = 3.54

How do these stats compare to the known stats measured by some of the best player's real card play over thousands of hands?

Experts: Avg Hand = 8.0, Avg Peg = 2.80, Avg Crib = 4.8

As you can see, Brainy's stats are not out of line and are within the statistical possibilities of the game for a good player. The computer is an especially good Pegger. My win percentage has since climbed from 40 to 46 percent and the Skunks are 3 to 2.

If you don't trust the statistics provided, you can calculate them yourself because CC provides detailed history including every card played of every hand in every game. There are other Cribbage games that provide stats, and a few that provide computer opponent stats, but not in this compact and elegant format and with this strong of an AI opponent. If you want to improve your game and are constantly thinking that the computer is playing with an unfair advantage, this is the app to get.

You can also flip the peg board over during play and view the game in progress stats with the deal # which really helps with locating board positional holes and adjusting strategy.

So far so good

Just played first game, nice format and options. Looks like a keeper.
( I lost first game. :-( )

Good game for the most part

Good game, needs a few things to make it a 5star

History should be adjustable so you can see more like lifetime, 100, 50, and 25

Needs cloud support

Need to be able to play iTunes music in background if you want

Needs to have a version of online play that does not require both people to be on at the same time

The game does have a good AI

Good game for just a match against AI though...once some more features are added it will totally be a 5star game

Very enjoyable

Playing versus the computer is better than most. Computer doesn't suddenly get totally awesome hands when way behind. The dealt hands appear to be more realistic than some of the other cribbage apps. My suggestion is to add a scroll bar on the counting screen, otherwise you have to intuitively know to scroll to get to the flush and his nobs.

Best on App Store

Should be #1

I like it!

Downloaded a few apps to play Cribbage on but this is my favourite by far. Nice options to turn off auto scoring etc so you can calculate your own score etc. The only thing I would like to see as an improvement is for the app to tell you if you got the manual scoring right (and then a breakdown of the correct scoring if you got it wrong). Great app.

Point Glitch?

Fun game but app does not seem to give me points for making 15 during play. Weather 10 & 5 or 2, 3 & face card, I get no points. Only points scored are 1 for closest to 31. Strange

Great game!

Great game! It's really helped me improve my cribbage game. And I can play vs friends!
