10/10 game, but overpriced / no offline support

Let me start off by saying I love Spin Rhythm. I have it on PC and put about 100 hours on it and played on all sorts of devices, from KBM to my Steam Deck and Steam Controller (2nd gen). So when I heard there was a Spin Rhythm mobile port, I wanted to try it.

Gameplay and progression wise is exactly the same as PC, which is great. I’m used to playing with the trackpads already when I played on Steam Controller, so converting to this input was effortless.

This is probably my favorite rhythm game, as it’s pretty easy to pick up, the charts are fun, and you kinda feel like you’re actually playing the songs instead of some overcharted mess.

However, I’m giving it 3 stars instead of 5 stars is because it’s pretty much overpriced compared to every other platform + there’s no custom songs.

The price is about $11.99 bucks per month, but you do get access to other Crunchyroll games and anime - However, I don’t watch anime and I don’t really play any other games so I really wished there was a one time fee to just own the game straight up without an expensive subscription

No custom songs is pretty disappointing; Don’t get me wrong, the original OST is such a banger, but with this price level I absolutely expected custom songs support - Would just be nice if we could just upload a file, kinda like Minecraft Bedrock on mobile, to add custom songs to our library.

I do also note that there’s no cross progression; I’d have to manually unlock every cosmetic/song, which is honestly not too much of a big deal because I level up stupidly fast by beating one XD song, which allowed me to buy multiple songs I’ve been playing, but it is still a small thing that I wish got added

I do also appreciate the ability to play in both portrait and landscape, but I really wished you could fine tune the settings even further by making some settings, like camera zoom, button opacity, etc., separated from each mode. There is some settings that are separated, like the button sizes, but I wish there was more

Also, no offline support sucks a lot. I got this game while on vacation because I had the itch to play this game, so I was kinda left hanging when booting it up during airplane rides and got stuck at staring into the Crunchyroll logo without wifi

Overall, gameplay is 10/10, but what holds it back is the expensive price and lack of modding capabilities compared to PC

Excellent Game Constantly Getting Better

I’ve been playing this game for years since the first iteration of the mobile version came out. I was bummed when it was removed for app store but kept my old version on my phone even though it wasn’t supported. Switched to the Steam version but definitely missed the mobile aspect. Finally grabbed the new version yesterday and I’m so impressed with how far the devs have come with this game. The difference between the two versions is night and day. The new mobile version is more like the PC version and has come a long way from the first simple mobile app. I cannot recommend this game enough it’s so fun and challenging. If you’re a fan of rhythm games, you’ll love it.

Locked behind an exclusive subscription? What?

I’m sorry, I have to leave a review here.

I went looking for this game’s release after being super keen on it from the reveal trailer last year. It absolutely boggles me that I can’t just buy the game - I have to subscribe a service that I have absolutely no interest in. Either that, or I pay $15 a month to play this, which is ridiculous.

As a potential customer, please hear this - no one likes this payment/subscription model. Just release the game for me to purchase. Asking fans of the game to buy a subscription to an anime TV service is diabolical.

Why do I need a CR acc to play????

The title says it all ^

Doesn’t work

Anytime that I launch the game it will be stuck on the Crunchyroll logo and I can’t play the game at all

Songs are a bop and the game itself is really fun

Never played a rhythm game that involves a spinning wheel, but damn. This game rocks, thanks for bringing it to the phone Crunchyroll!

Very Unique and fun

I dont usually play rhythm games, i dont even listen to music actually. I got this game because i saw that it had a completely different mechanic like spinning the wheel which roped me in immediately. However, sometimes i feel like going from matching to tapping the notes feels a bit wonky and uncomfortable or unnatural. I do wish the music options were more anime themes. I havent seen any yet, most of them are random dubstep songs so it gets a bit repetitive.
Five star would happen if yall could get some anime openings or endings in the catalog.

Highly recommend this game, especially if you wanna feel nostalgia from a modern Guitar Hero!

Thank you for responding to my review. I did forget to add something very important to it. The biggest thing that NEEDS fixing is making it so we do not have to log in with crunchyroll account every time. Please fix that!

8+ having a Crunchyroll account??

One of the first things that you see when opening the app is a login to your Crunchyroll account Know me personally back when I did have one. I didn’t actually have one and I used a friend account. Which was because I was too young at 8+ to make one so the target audience is not making sense especially if it’s just a stupid guitar game. It’s still based off of something much deeper…

It’s such a bop!!!

I absolutely LOVE rhythm games and it is so hard finding a good mobile one!! I am so impressed and very pleased with the selection so far as this is such a new game! Anime and some jams?! I say yes!!

I hope to see some more familiar artists… like panda eyes!! (The older songs preferably ;) ) but anyways I will definitely be keeping this game if it continues to be the way it is but with so much more!!

It is a good game but

This game is great but why do I ALWAYS have to log in every time I open the game. I could give 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ if you fix this.

-Splatoon chook (MJ333) =D

Have to pay $11.99 a month to get passed the login screen

I'll stick with free alternatives

Controls

Please add the original controls or at least an option to play with only one finger. The game was fine without the green tap button and it functioned before with the yellow tap button of a single finger.
