About

One Day. One Beat. Daily Beat is a small instrument, and a diary kept in music. Every date has its own key, scale, chord progression, tempo and sound. None of it is chosen — it is worked out from the date itself, so a day sounds the same for everyone, and the same again whenever you come back to it. You make the rhythm. The day makes the rest. HOW IT WORKS Five lanes, sixteen steps. Tap a step to turn it on. Drag along a lane to fill a run of them. It plays on its own and loops, and it saves on its own — there is no play button and no save button. Bass and synth have no notes to choose. What they play is decided by the day, in its key and its register, so a rhythm is all you ever have to think about. At midnight the day is sealed and a new one begins, with a new sound and an empty grid. Yesterday stays exactly as you left it. A CALENDAR OF DAYS Every day you have made is kept. Open the calendar to hear an earlier one. Past days play, but cannot be changed — today is the only day you can change. SHARE A DAY Any day you have made can become a short video: the grid, the moving playhead and the sound, made on your phone. Post it, send it, or save it to Photos. QUIET BY DESIGN No account. No sign-in. No network. Nothing is collected, and nothing leaves your phone unless you share it. No mixer, no piano roll, no settings. The constraint is the point: a few seconds a day is enough.

What's New in Daily Beat

1.1.0

Share a day as a video. Tap the new share button below the grid to turn a day's beat into a short video: the grid, the moving playhead and the sound. Post it, send it, or save it to Photos. The video is made inside the app rather than recorded from the screen, so the drums keep their edge.
