Great Simple Golf Game
There’s an offline TOUR mode where you compete against CPU scores for practice, as well as an asynchronous online competition against other players for the lowest score.
Developer is very active in the game’s discord server and quick to respond to bugs and issues, also quick to get updates out to address known issues.
Highly recommend to anyone looking for a mechanically simple golf game
Bugged
Love it, but a couple bugs
Awesome game!
Neat idea but full of bugs
Game Is A Blast, BUT…
That said, this game is RIDDLED with bugs in a way that I’ve never see for a mobile game (almost feels like it was released before it was ready). And sadly the bugs have yet to be fixed with the many “bug fix” updates that have been pushed, and most updates actually seem to break the game more than it already was.
For example, the longest running bug in the game right now is the broken scorecard. While the game tracks your actual score correctly, it will never reflect correctly on the scorecard.
On top of that, sometimes the game loses track of which round you’re on during a tournament or resets you entirely. For instance, I’ve played multiple tournaments where I had to play for 6 or 7 rounds just to finish because the game would keep resetting me (and you get penalized for forfeiting).
The most recent game breaking bug comes with the club yardage ranges. Since the beginning of the game, each club has had set yardage ranges so that you know roughly how far you’ll hit with a certain amount of power (for instance, your Hybrid could hit anywhere from 155-194 yards). One of the most recent updates changed all of these yardage amounts for every club, but worse than that the scaling isn’t even accurate (so for instance, a shot that you know without a shadow of a doubt should be traveling roughly 175 yards now comes nowhere close).
Again, love the concept of this game, but grow increasingly more frustrated with the amount of bugs that flood it and ruin the player experience.
Fun game, needs tweaking.
Secondly, you rarely get opportunities to answer questions and no answer you give results in positive results. Either lose fans or “brain power”. Feels impossible to improve or make in-game currency.
I would also add that it’s ridiculous that there are some holes, like the reverse C par five that you literally cannot see the fairway at all.
It would also be fun if there was a free play mode. It’s odd that a game restricts how much you can play.
Great Concept, Needs Work
I have high hopes that this will turn into a mobile game that I will happily play often.
Has Potential
On occasion it would freeze and not allow me to take my shot. The only fix was closing out of the app and restarting it.
You don’t have access to all clubs at all times. I assume it has to do with the lie but there were many times my 3w and 5w were completely missing. They were only selectable on occasion.
The press conference function is cool but also skewed in favor of a negative result. Far too many pressers resulting from negative shots. For example I went 6 under on the first nine with no bogeys but the first hazard I hit on the second nine resulted in a “negative” presser.
Could do away with the automatic instant replays after each shot or make it a selectable option.
The trees can get annoying but the more I played the more I realized they were a challenge and adjusted to hit over them and not just bounce off of them.
Overall, I like the game and it has potential to be a game I play A LOT but these were just the things i found after paying the $4.99 for the tour mode.
Response from developer
Hi CaptainBogey, Sorry you ran into all of those issues, and we've heard about most of those from other users too. If you download the latest update you should see they're all fixed, except for you not being able to use the 3w & 5w which is by design (You can only hit these clubs on fairway/tee). Hope this helps!
Fun but it’s too punishing
I think you should be able to reset your shot or lower the backswing after pulling too far back. Putting feels incomplete in green slope variety, power and aiming. Wind feels like it only affects the driver and is a flip of the coin going with or against 20mph.
Good game but weird bug
Swing update
Long live daily drive
Game over-punishes bad shots
It works like this; you hit good shots, your “confidence” with that club improves, leading to longer distance and better control with said club. Hit the fairway off the teebox with your driver? You may get a 1-2 percent increase to club confidence. You miss the fairway, or worse land in a hazard? You’re looking at possibly a 10% decrease in confidence FOR ONE SHOT.
One hole was particularly tough, I lost 30%. This needs to be adjusted to not be heavily weighted towards punishing you for bad shots, while barely rewarding you for many good shots.
Great fun
Its a super simple once a day game. If you forget to play one day, no worries you’ll just make up the hole the next time you’re around.
Love it! But!
Great way to golf everyday
Greatest Game
Another one of those achievements has been becoming a multi-major champion in DailyDrive. I’ve worked my tail off to get to where I am today. There have been a lot of long weeks, plenty of regretful shots, and most definitely 2-3 phone screens destroyed. But, all that has made me one of the most prolific golfers to ever play this game.
As nice as it is to hear a feel-good story, there is always disaster on the horizon. I slowly took a break from DailyDrive a few months back. I seemed to have lost myself and my purpose as I was racking up so many major titles. The idea of being at the top while everyone is trying to bring you down haunted me in my silk pajamas almost nightly. I couldn’t tell if it was age catching up to me or if it was the 7-8 beers I would have a day Thursday-Saturday. Either way, I needed help, and I needed it fast.
I’m grateful to say after being in the darkness for so long, I’m back on DailyDrive and I haven’t felt this great since I previously left. My game is, of course, a little rusty, but god damnit I can still hit that golf ball a mile. I’ve noticed there are some young pups on tour who are bringing some major game. I love the challenge and look forward to being back on top one day, adding another major championship to my already storied legacy.
If there is only one thing I can say about DailyDrive, is that it will always require you to be at your best. There is never a day that goes by where I don’t give it my all, and that goes for everything that I have accomplished in life. So, if you’re that person who slips on their shoes without tying them, untie those dirty, worn-out air forces, re-tie them, and install DailyDrive now!
