Needs a max reading metric
It’s not useful to me without recording the max volume. It only shows instantaneous volume.
It’s a fun little app
I like the old-school chart recorder thingy and the ability to use different weighting for the sound. Great for audio nerds

Quite good
Easy to use and analog meter is an effective method for this purpose.
However the strip recording is odd: nothing intuitive about this!
It seems you can’t stop it, and there is no way to show when the record was made. The top left and right labels are virtually unreadable (for SELECT and DONE), and I don’t see how to annotate them. Am I operating it incorrectly I wonder?

Simple to use
Exactly what it should be but I wonder why it asks for Camera access? Big thanks to developer for keeping this going.
Response from developer
Thanks for your review! There is a feature that lets you take photos with the dB reading visible. Just tap the camera icon above the dB display or drag down with your finger to activate it. The first time you do this, it will ask for camera permission. Best regards
Excellent
Nice and simple. The free version should be good enough for most users. I have it installed on my Watch for easy access when I’m working in a noisy environment and it gives an alert if sound levels reach an alarming level. Brilliant!
Outstanding decibel meter…
Fast - easy interface - Useful when cleaning house, reading, hiking to make sure the ‘noise’ is good noise.

Thanks for your review! I'm happy you like the app.
I watch app ?
From a pro soundguy, best meter ever! I hope we can get this app on iWatch. That would make it the best tool a soundguy could have in his e-letherman!
Elegant
Given an often gaudy choice of interfaces, this is definitely a case of Less is More. Simple and elegant. Being able to print an analogue strip is visually very effective. Would love a Decibels widget please!

Interface controls are too hidden
It is maddening in it lack of intuitive functionality
There are no back buttons to navigate out of dead ends
The device itself works well
So do graphs
Why can’t I play back recorded info out loud?

Top tool
Give a very accurate reading for general sense of volume
Удобное приложение, спасибо

Nice look
Nice look. I use it when listening to my hi-fi system as a volume monitor. It would be very nice if different VU meter appearance would be available. Thanks
Works great
Simple. The strips are cool.
Супер! Давно такого не видел.
И работает чётко. Показания верные. Классика!
This is an excellent app, & it works in unpaid mode.
I am a software NOT a hardware engineer, so I have no idea if it is even possible to use the microphone of an iphone to measure dBs with any useful precision.
This application gives results consistent wih well rated iOS and Android apps - I have compared it to about 8 others.

They finally got it Calibrated.
I’ve been using Decibels for years having found the chart recorder extremely useful, however it always read dB a little higher than it really was. The last update corrected that and it now has correct readings. They also added different weighting settings A,C andZ. The basic meter is great and I recommend getting the options as it makes the best meter using chart recorders.

Thank you for your nice review! -david
Works well and it’s free
The app does exactly what you expect and it costs nothing for the basic db meter.
I note also that it responds to ultrasonic frequencies (for example a pest repellent device) and shows the decibels accordingly.
