About
Stopdown draws the sharp zone instead of handing you a table of numbers.
Pick a camera, then set focal length, aperture and focus distance. The band redraws as you go: where sharpness begins, where it ends, how deep it runs, and how much of it falls in front of the focus point and how much behind. Hyperfocal distance stays on screen, so you can see where to focus to send sharpness off to infinity.

WHY THE NUMBERS CAN BE TRUSTED
We use the standard circle of confusion: the sensor diagonal divided by 1442. That is the criterion for an 8×10″ print that looks sharp enough at arm's length. Settings has an Accuracy section — the formula, the assumptions, and the point where the model stops holding. You can check the app instead of taking it on faith.

What's New in Depth of Field
1.0.4
November 3, 2026
Large format: the aperture scale now runs to f/64, and a manual blur limit can go up to 0.2 mm — enough for 4×5 and 6×17. Advanced and Focus stacking show a manual blur limit next to the camera, so it's clear what the numbers are based on. The diffraction limit reads the way a camera shows it: f/22, not f/22.4. When it lies beyond the scale, it's no longer drawn at the edge. Section titles now stand apart from the rows below them.
