Android (or maybe just Google Pixel?) users may have difficulty
I had an old iPhone and got an android phone (Google Pixel). I noticed that my phone would seem to stop every 20 seconds when I’d listen to an audiobook on Bookshelf. It was so annoying I kept my iPhone just to listen to Bookshelf. I had looked at settings but couldn’t figure out what was wrong. After a while My iPhone started giving me issues andI wanted to keep listening to my audiobooks so I searched my phone settings. I went into every single one and if it looked like it could be something that could cause a problem, I switched it and then saw if it affected the phone. I FINALLY found what it was but I took too long to write this review and can’t remember. I found out my friend with an Android phone (not sure if hers was a Pixel as well) had the same issue and she got so sick of it she cancelled her Bookshelf subscription. Maybe someone else has written a review with the specifics? It would be nice for Deseret to put what Android (or Google Pixel?) users need to do in the description. I assume the issue is just with the manufacturer’s factory settings that came with my specific phone but, oh my goodness, what a frustration it was!

At least once a week I am having to remove and re download the app because it buffers …it’s happening with more frequency. Highly annoying
User friendly, Great Content, Quality Audiobooks
I love the selection on this app. I listen to several books a month and appreciate having access to new arrivals seemingly every month. The audiobooks have great narrators in my opinion and it is well worth the monthly price. I love that I don’t have to worry about swearing or other inappropriate content and that there are so many books that my children can enjoy too. The Fablehaven books and audio in particular are exceptional and our whole family enjoyed them.

Just like all the other streamers
Well unfortunately it looks like this app is no better than any other streaming app. A couple of months ago I was wanting to listen to one of the audiobooks I “purchased”, and it would no longer play. Months later still not working I checked, and none of the author’s books are available on ebook or audiobook anymore. This is only made worse by the fact that Covenant/Deseret has been discontinuing physical media. I’m glad this happened before I purchased the other dozen books in the series, and another series that includes 9 books in the series. Thankfully I already own both sets on CD. At this point I’ll be checking Audible for audiobooks; especially since both of the aforementioned series are available there. I guess I just expected better from a company that is owned by the church.

This used to be my favorite app
I used to love this app, but lately it seems like it never works properly. I can no longer download or listen to audiobooks because I keep getting an error saying I need a better internet connection—even when I’m at home connected to a strong Wi-Fi network.
Another frustrating issue is that the app no longer remembers where I left off. Every time I stop listening and come back later, it loses my place, making it difficult to enjoy audiobooks.
I really hope these issues are fixed soon because this used to be one of my favorite apps, but it’s become too unreliable to use.

Podcast Chapters
There used to be chapters for podcasts. Now it’s just seasons and episodes. The third level of chapters within episodes within seasons was very useful.
Certain bug need to be fixed
I have been using Desert Bookshelf for years. I have seen a lot of changes over the years. Some of them have been good. I find sometimes that I have to delete the app and then reinstall it to make it work.
Frustrating
This app used to be one of my favorites. Now it is so slow to download books and it glitches when trying to scroll up and down when I'm looking for specific titles. Some of the books in my library don't have their author's name attached to them anymore which is frustrating because that's how I find my book series. I've tried everything I could find on Google searches to clean it up like redownloading my books, uninstalling and reinstalling the app itself, and it hasn't helped. I'm seriously thinking of canceling my subscription at this point which stinks because I love all of the books in my library. If only I could download them...

The recent redesign cares for several issues I’ve had with this app. One lingering issue, skipping backward or forward from external controls such as AirPods skips entire chapters instead of a few seconds

Where are the chapters?!?!
I HATE this software. Why can’t they use the software on my phone? For the past six years I have listened to a chapter a day and paid for a membership just for the Sunday on Monday podcast. Now the episode is one thing and not divided into daily segments! I will not renew my membership. I would give zero or negative stars if I could.

Great way to listen to uplifting books!
Deseret bookshelf is a great place to find the many different types of books I love to listen to while washing dishes, driving in the car, fold clothes, night times with the kids, etc. Their books are uplifting, edifying, educational, and fun. This apps’ books fill all the categories that I love and need in my life.

The whole family loves bookshelf. We use it most everyday. It has glitches now and then but the wholesome content and variety available make it worthwhile. I use it more than my social media.
