Overall, I LOVE Deseret News! And I am a Wiccan. Though I would like a search function in the app, especially for when I click on a notification but the app or my data connection glitches and it is nearly impossible to find that exact article again. The fact I do not have to pay for such exemplary reporting is really the shining jewel of this service. Thank you!

Most news is behind pay walls these days. I used to read Google news, but more than half the links took me to articles I couldn’t read without a subscription Deseret News is all free with no fees.

Appreciation and criticism
Having been born and educated in Utah, l regularly read the DN. I very much appreciate its accessibility. I would appreciate it if you would lock out so called “fans” of the UofU who post on every BYU article and spew their hatred and vitriol. Civil discourse does not exist with these sorry proponents of such a highly respected institution of higher learning. I very much doubt that any of them ever graduated from the U.

The best paper in the US! I live in Houston, and lived all the time zones.
Waste of time
I quit the SL tribune because of its biased reporting, the Deseret news is just as bad. Total waste of time. Just report the news and I’ll make my own conclusions. Same thing with KSL news, nothing but rainbows and unicorns!
Needs audio functionality
The quality of the news writing is superb and appreciated. But the app has no functionality to use AI generated voice to read the news articles to the user. That is a huge omission in 2025 where this functionality is standard. They need to fix this omission and the app would be five stars.

I love this church app. It gives me news about the church in Utah!

Desert News is a great source of information. It has interesting articles without the doom and gloom feel of other news providers.
Learning about hockey
I love reading the Utah Hockey Club articles. The author does a great job of explaining the rules (I’m new to hockey), and I love the format of the articles after games. Hockey for dummies has really helped me and even some of the other more advanced parts are really helpful for me. I love that guy!
