Great content but the app needs work

The Economist has excellent written ad audio content, but the app is sorely missing customizability. I have a few select topics I care about, but the app has no good way to focus on those. There is a topics section in the FYP but it is out of the way and difficult to manage. It feels like an app stuck 15 years in the past.

One of the worst apps

I’ve given up counting the number of times the app displays “something went wrong…”. It’s probably the worse app I’ve ever used. The economist seems to be complacent or incompetent.

Liberal editorial bias, no real economic diversity

The Economist markets itself as independent and centrist, but the coverage is consistently left-leaning and heavily weighted toward Keynesian economics. There’s little space for alternative perspectives like Austrian economics, supply-side theory, or genuine classical liberal thought. Most issues present progressive policy solutions as the obvious answer and frame skepticism of government intervention as backward.
For a publication that claims to value “free thinking,” it’s remarkably narrow in which economic schools it takes seriously. Austrian economists and their critiques of central banking get dismissed or ignored. Supply-side arguments barely get fair treatment. If you want actual editorial diversity and intellectual rigor from multiple economic perspectives, you won’t find it here.
I’d respect The Economist more if it was honest about its ideological leanings instead of pretending to be the rational, centrist voice. Real independence means genuinely engaging with competing ideas, not just Keynesian orthodoxy.

Hassling about the same settings every time

Every time I open tje iOS app, it again asks to confirm privacy settings, likely because it does not like my settings - resets them to be more permissive settings. Tired of manually intervening every time.

Werbung in der paid version. What.

Wie kann es sein dass überall Werbung ist. Obwohl man für das Abo zahlt. Ich versteh es wirklich nicht, das geht garnicht.
