Issues

Works great until Dexcom do an update and then there’s issues. The last update stopped Siri from being used with Dexcom so when driving that is a real problem. I called the technician and went through a whole process and then I went through a number of things myself and after three weeks I find out that it’s an issue with the last Dexcom update. Now Dexcom has asked whether a technician could phone me to go through the whole process that I’ve already tried over the last three weeks with no success. It would save everybody’s time and frustration to just say we need to do another update. And soon.

App gives figures - sort of

Using app for T1D Dexcom g6 monitor. Works sorts of, but many options don’t. Eg have spent hours trying to get Siri to work with it- no luck- faq and contact options give nothing in app etc. Given what we pay for the product/app - invest in it please or your competitors will have me soon! Make compatible with CarPlay to check sugars and similar maker Follow companion app compatible with Siri and car play!
Seems that shortcut for CarPlay doesn’t work since iOS 26.1 and watchos requires you to go into it twice to get a figure. it’s dangerous now and urgently needs fixes.

UPDATE APP for WIDGET USE PLS

Since the recent update I’m no longer able to have my blood glucose readings on the lock screen of my phone (how I usually check it without opening it and going into the app)
because it’s no longer there when I go to add widgets?! The same was for my Apple Watch, the widget wasn’t working for a while, I updated my Apple Watch and it’s working now however, I’ve updated my phone to the newest IOS and it hasn’t fixed anything. Hoping it’s not related to the new G7 being out and this app dying because there’s a new one..
because honestly if saving all thats spent on selling us these money making devices/ equipment to keep us alive was used on an actual ******* cure like stem cell etc, we wouldn’t be having any of these problems thanks

Terrible terrible terrible

This app is getting zero support now that G7 is out (monthly G7 updates compared to 10 months and counting). Ongoing messages that “we’re still testing on this iOS” (over 12 months now), I mean it literally says do not rely on it to make decisions. The widget has broken and wasn’t fixed in last update. Won’t shut up when sugar’s are high, but don’t find out I’m low until it’s too late - settings don’t change this. If this thing had only one job it would be to alert users *before* they are low, and it doesn’t do this consistently. Rate of change alerts don’t occur even when changes cross the alert threshold. But our government heavily subsidises G6 so I guess there’s no reason to stay on top of it any more? Terrible terrible terrible and dangerous to health.

The app has problems with an iPhone 15

Almost 3 weeks ago now an update to the app came out in Australia and now it is unbearable.
I had an iPhone 8 which is compatible with the dexcom g6 app but since the update my bgl readings were freezing up and after turning the iPhone off and on again the bgl would then update.
I called dexcom technical support who after an hour of discussion where I was informing them the app update had issues I was then told that the update was to include iOS 17 and my iPhone 8 is no longer compatible with the app so I would need to purchase a iPhone 10 or higher for the app to work.
We decided not to go through this problem again so that afternoon I purchased a new iPhone 15 but found I am still getting the same issues so I called the tech support once again and was now told the iPhone 15 is not compatible with the app as I am running iOS 17.1.1
I have now been provided with a dexcom reader to see my bgl levels as I cannot rely on my iPhone 15 either.
The problem now is I want to purchase a dexcom t-slim X2 pump but until the app is updated the t-slim will not talk to the reader which would cause many medical problems.
I definitely believe it is the updated app that has the issues not the iPhones and I’m sure Apple wouldn’t be impressed when they read this!

Poor watch support

Update August 2024: iOS 17 has been out almost a year now, and still the app says “Dexcom is still testing compatibility with this operating system”. Watch support is still mostly non-existent. Given the billions in revenue this company makes and the cost of these devices, it’s outrageous that they don’t give the software more support.

Alarms go off continuously even after you’ve treated a high/low, with no way to snooze them and give time for it to take effect.

Watch support is woefully inadequate. App reports incompatibility with the latest version of iOS even months after release. UI is limited. Features are limited. This app feels like the bare minimum effort required by Dexcom.

Inconsistent

While yes it has been helpful to have access to my readings via my phone or watch; the fact that it’s very inconsistent and fiddley is a pain.

First off, main app on iPhone is sufficient. It has a basic layout, which is confusing at times (obviously they don’t use Apple design language, they’d rather retro fit their own “style”). App cuts out often, though not sure if app or sensor’s fault, contacted their support before and it’s apparently a know issue.

The Apple Watch functionality and app is barebones at best, unusable at worst. Again, not using Apple design, retro fitting their own design language which looks like it was it was never tested, like a piece of software designs for a hospital. The complications are bare bones too. They obviously haven’t updated the complications since the original Apple Watch. THERE IS SO MUCH SPACE ON THE NEW WATCHES. Why not a graph complication, or one that has the colour bar and changes to red as your BGL levels go up? Maybe a summary complication that shows your averages or shows interesting data like comparing your readings to the previous week.

I mention all this because there is in fact a better app. It’s called Glucomate, made in Australia. It has all these wonderful complications, a fresh design, falls in line with Apple design language and is updated REGULARLY. One downside though. The Dexcom app only updates Apple Health once every 3 HOURS.

Honestly, for a company that charges so much for equipment and medical supplies just so us Diabetics can live easier life’s, they could put money into R&D.

The app needs upgrades

Don’t get me wrong, the app has improved my diabetes control enormously but it is frustrating.

1. Having to enter data individually with a large pause while it loads is annoying. Suggest clicking one button that allows you to enter carbs, fast acting insulin etc then select save would be a huge improvement.
Currently selecting carbs, enter the amount, save, wait while it loads and unlocks the option to enter fast acting insulin does my head in.

2. Having the separate Clarity app to review history is horrible. Also the historical data it provides is hard to read and doesn’t allow you to see data for exercise to see if that’s a factor in readings. It would be much better to have one app that does everything.

Something very similar to the Freestyle Libre app would be better. Data entry is seamless and reporting is awesome in that app.

watchOS10 issues

I have been using the dexcom G6 for over a year now and have had few issues.

However when my Apple Watch automatically installed the new watchOS, the readings that are displayed on the complications are now displaying so small that they are unreadable. After looking at other reviews online, it has currently been over 70 days since this bug was reported & dexcom have done nothing to fix this. The whole point of purchasing an apple watch was to make life easier but unfortunately Dexcom refuse to make any changes/fixes for this issue.

Terrible app

I have been using Dexcom since G5. In all this time the app is still the the same cumbersome tool it was when it started, every time you open the app it warns about IOS version, when you go away from the open app and come back it presents the logon screen consistently, instead of opening the results window. When my battery is running low on the G6 transmitter with 3weeks to go, it keeps on beeping with the low battery warning screen every 5min and I can’t stop it even after acknowledging the warning! Where is access to faceID for logon?

I would have thought that the app was better maintained than it is considering the amount of people would be using this app for their reporting and monitoring.

Please fix this app!

Blood sugar readings are not updating

Unfortunately this app is pretty bad to use.
The alarms are not adjustable, so if I turn the Bluetooth function off then it will alarm. I understand why the alarm is required but makes this app very unappealing for any diabetics who are actually able to control their blood sugars.

Additionally with the latest version, the blood sugar readings are not updating in real time. I am getting a lag when I open the app and have to change the view to 12 hours to let it then reset the real time updates.
I don’t understand how this app has been so slow to develop compared to free to use apps

So usual and to keep on track of my levels

I love the app and the tracking of my levels would like if the app can be set as widget for my phone though it can only be set on the side , right down the bottom on an iPhone and I would like to have it as a bigger widget to when I open my phone and be and easy to just go into the app a lot quicker I have seen it before on other peoples phones but that’s probably the USA version where I’m in Australia

Dexcom app doesn’t cater for normal visual issues

As a BGL device they could make the colour contrast on the screen more obvious. There is no options for accessibility.
For example no dyslexic or large font or colour scheme options for the visually impaired. Thank goodness I have a tandem pump screen which has a much better display to detect hypos late at night.
CGM is good. I like the fact it displays the insertion time and gives warnings of approaching sensor changes.
People with diabetes have a higher rate of sight impairment yet it’s not thought of in this app.
Not sure why the last update was a year ago most technology evolves much faster this app is lagging.

G6 is great, App has never been tested

The G6 is a life saving piece of equipment. The app has clearly never been tested by real diabetics who use it every day and the company doesn’t care about updating the software. The single most frustrating thing is simply how long it takes to enter data. I have to press six different buttons (Fast Acting, Done, Long Acting, Done, Carbs, Done) (and wait for the green tick to appear and disappear between each) to enter 3 numbers in the morning. So so unintuitive. I’ve discovered it’s literally quicker to enter the first value, click done, press “Home” and click “Events” again than wait for the green tick to appear and disappear. So slow. Fix your app please. Also PLEASE add widgets. How can I not add a widget to my home screen?? Checking BGL at a single glance instead of opening an app… I will go back to Libre as soon at their CGM comes on the market in Australia if this isn’t fixed.

Need a lot of improvement

Simply, poor UX design. It’s almost like they barely did any user testing or prototyping before releasing it to the general public.

Turning the phone landscape to view 24h graph is not intuitive and makes all the text tiny, especially on my iPhone mini. Dragging the point on the graph also is not easy to determine where I’ve logged events as it doesn’t snap to those points.

The alarms are the most horrifying and embarrassing. No option to customise alarm tones beyond a preset number of equally annoying tones. There’s no option to snooze an urgent low or high after treating it meaning if I treat a low in the middle of the night then the alarms won’t stop and let me go back to sleep until my levels come back up.

Also the transmitter occasionally disconnects from the phone and sounds a really loud alarm even if my phone is on silent. Very annoying as has happened in work meetings and in the cinema.

I really love the G6, but the app lets the whole product down.

Shows BGL (sometimes)

The app and equipment will show your sugar level (not as a widget tho), when your phone has significantly freed up storage and when the actual equipment decides to work. I use my phone like a normal person and don’t always have the storage that this app demands to be able to consistently show my blood sugar. The alarms are annoying and I became ‘alarm fatigued’ very quickly, although the sheer irritation of urgent low glucose alarms does motivate me to make sure I don’t go low. The actual equipment no matter how careful I am has an insane failure rate which I wouldn’t be so annoyed about if you could restart sensors like the g5 could, but I suppose dexcom has realised that letting their sensors consistently fail while making it near impossible to restart a sensor is a great business model for a captive market. Many more fails in far less time than the g5, and frankly I’m just not able to waltz to the store and pick up a new box when 2 or 3 sensors consecutively fail. Customer support is always kind and helpful but I have no intention to continue with dexcom once I’m able to change my cgm type because of decisions that must be coming from high up. The app is not designed with living a human life in mind and I’m constantly having to delete apps, photos and documents to get readings. Medical companies have a moral obligation to their customers to provide quality controlled equipment and to create products that enhance their quality of life, especially given how much we pay for them. Just disappointing but not that surprising really.

LATEST WATCH UPDATE IS NOT COMPATIBLE!!!

Installed latest Apple Watch software update last night and now the app is not compatible and not able to be set as a complication on Watch face. Am now unable to view readings on Home Screen/watch face which is the main reason I bought an Apple Watch in the first place. DO NOT UPDATE UNLESS YOU WANT TO LOSE THIS FEATURE!!! Spoke to Apple support and they advised it was an app issue and to lodge a technical support ticket through the developer, however the technical support form requires a US residential address and I don’t live in America… doesn’t seem to be any other way to report this issue…

Please improve the app!

I love having a CGM, but the app isn’t as good as I expected. I bought a series 7 Apple Watch specifically to see my Dexcom readings. I was surprised how few face options there were that show it on the Home Screen. I chose Infograph Modular and about half the time the Dexcom circle is blank. If I touch it, it usually shows the graph, but it often disappears again. Please fix this!

The high and low alerts have interrupted my sleep (and my partner’s) so many times because there is no way to tell it that you’ve already treated it.

The graph is good to show my current and recent readings, but it’s hard to go back and analyse them to work out why it’s happening. I know you have the Clarity app, but it doesn’t show food, exercise, insulin etc. I’ve been manually entering insulin and carbs every day, but I’m wondering why I should bother because I can’t go back more than 24 hours to see those details. I now have 4 apps for my diabetes (2 Dexcom, 1 for carb counting and 1 bolus calculator) that don’t talk to each other and it’s a bit of overload. Dexcom is telling me the what but not the why and how to fix it.

Needs serious improvement

The graphics on this app are awful - the graph of BSLs is almost impossible to interpret as the time and mmol are really poorly marked and difficult to read. It’s about 10x worse if you turn your phone on its side. It’s also really annoying that you can’t turn off the low alarms - obviously they are very important but having your pump and phone alarming simultaneously is awful, especially when you have a sleeping baby. Only using the app so I can share my results with my endocrinologist, otherwise it’d be long gone. Surprising to have such a crappy app for such an expensive product - doesn’t seem to be made with diabetics in mind

G6

I find it very useful tool for my day-to-day life I would suggest coding in the setting i’ve being able to ask Siri your blood glucose level while driving as at the moment it says I cannot do this task in the car. I am someone that gets nervous as a newly diagnosed person and also a person that does not feel physical symptoms of dropping. Legally in Australia you’re not supposed to drive if you’re below 5.0. And I don’t want to set my phone to go off every time I hit five as that happens often and it’s not a dangerous level for every day life.I would ask you To have a way of making a driving setting so it warns you at 5.0 and/ or activating being able to ask Siri
