It shows so much promise

While the app is in its earliest stages, I have observed rapid bug fixes. I can tell this app has been a labor of love and has great potential to be an excellent study tool. I look forward to how it develops with time and such attention to detail.

A mess and appears to be in violation of copyright

The user interface for this app is a mess. There’s nothing at all appealing or interesting about it. But there’s something more important going on here.

Besides the public domain translations here, the app looks to violate translator Pettit’s Creative Commons license (the app has a shop/is commercial) and the developer is charging users $11.99 for download Crawford’s translation, which is certainly copyrighted.

I would be surprised if the developer has Crawford’s publisher’s permission to sell a version of his translation through this app.

Response from developer

Future update will spell out license with Crawford’s translation. It is licensed. Attempts to get in contact with E G Pettit have been made to clear up what “non commercial” means with regards to the licensing rights for Creative Commons works. Current build though has a link to both the original source and the Creative Commons license as well as the base JSON data for all of the translations sans Crawford. It is our understanding to be in compliance with the license, if subject matter experts would like to contact me, feel free to do so. Edit: Ah hell. Everything but licensed content is now free.
