“Hey, DISCO” is an app for oncology care providers that identifies cancer center-specific answers and resources to patients to treatment cost-related questions. The research team worked closely with patient navigators to ensure a comprehensive list of patient cost-related questions and accurate and precise answers are included. Hey, DISCO utilizes large language models that use semantic searching. This technology is considerably more effective than conventional key word searches and we anticipate this will help providers answer patient cost-related questions more efficiently and accurately in real time.
