Poor Scoring System

My current dog food was ranked 69/100 (Carna4) due to “high liver content” with the potential risk for vitamin A toxicity. AAFCO's adult maintenance vitamin A range is 1,250 to 62,500 IU per 1,000 kcal of metabolizable energy (ME). Carna4 meets these guidelines and does not put dogs at risk of Vitamin A toxicity, although they use liver as a nutrient dense ingredient. This flag by the scoring system is very misleading, and could potentially lead consumers away good quality food. Additionally, their scoring system does not take into account the way the food is processed, only the ingredients alone. The processing method is just as equally important as the ingredients themselves, and neglecting this in the scoring method can also lead consumers to purchase high heat extruded foods with poor digestibility.

Response from developer

Thank you for the thoughtful feedback! Our scoring goes beyond ingredients to consider manufacturer transparency, veterinary nutrition expertise, recall history and manufacturing practices. We also appreciate your point about processing methods. We'll review this with our team and work on making it better. We're a 100% independent project, and feedback like yours helps us improve. Please reach out to support@doggoeats.ai with any questions or suggestions!

It’s a trap

Same info is on free AI systems. Including Google. This is just designed to create a sympathetic response and get you to pay them.

Response from developer

That is a valid concern. The difference is that we don't use AI for product scoring. We score by reading real ingredients, recall history and your dog's profile matching v/s when you ask ChatGPT or Google, it will rely on what's written on the internet and may give you different answers every time. Please reach out to us at support@doggoeats.ai if we can help with anything!

Easy & Helpful !

I have a similar app for myself (Yuka) for hygiene items I can quickly scan while I’m at the store, so when I found out there was an app I could use for my dog it was the best thing. It scans quickly and easily in store with great details and insight on items and food. It also helps with plans and recipes which is really helpful. Any questions I had were quickly answered and the support team was very helpful. I would definitely recommend this for your fur friends if you want to make sure what they’re consuming is healthy and good for them!!

best investment

I fixed my lab’s allergies after doggo flagged artificial ingredients. Thank god I didn’t pay $300 to nutritionist my vet recommended.
