About
Established on 2075/06/28 (B.S.), the National ID and Civil Registration Department has been responsible for implementing three major functions: the legally mandated “vital events registration” (personal event registration), the highly popular “cash transfer” program under social security, and the distribution of the multipurpose “National Identity Card” for establishing individuals’ digital identity.
All three programs—focused on citizens’ identity and welfare—are interconnected in one way or another and are now technology-driven. Therefore, programs that were previously operated independently are now being managed under a single umbrella following the establishment of the department.
