Free and effective

This is the only app I found that gives me an overview in a calendar across various habits to see what I missed on different days. No ads. No cost. That’s the best part.

Response from developer

Thank you! πŸ™ The all-habits calendar is my own favourite view too β€” seeing the gaps is somehow more useful than seeing the wins. Free and ad-free it stays. β€” Dots dev πŸŒ•πŸŒŸ

Great interface and simple to use but needs some flexibility

This app has potential to be 5 stars for sure. Could the following features be added? 1) allow editing of the numbers of times the habit was done. If I accidentally tap the habit there is no way I could find to undo it.
2) allow an easy input for a number of times something was done. For example, if my goal is to read 100 pages of a book per week I need to tap the habit each time I read a page. If I read 50 pages today, it would be nice to manually type in 50.

Response from developer

Thank you for writing this out so clearly β€” it's genuinely the most useful review I've had πŸ™ Both of those are built and in the update I've just submitted: you'll be able to press and hold a habit to edit a day's count (so a stray tap is fixable), and type a number straight in instead of tapping fifty times. Thank you for nudging it πŸŽ‰ β€” Dots dev πŸŒ•πŸŒŸ

Exactly what I wanted

I was looking for a habit app with a calendar view and widgets. I tried a couple of them on the App Store and hated them immediately. They usually ask 20 questions just to get started, and then I quickly realized they weren’t what I was looking for.

Finally, I found this app. Huge thanks to the developer!!! It’s straightforward, easy to use, and does exactly what I wanted without all the unnecessary stuff. πŸ™Œ

This made my week πŸ₯Ή The no-onboarding-quiz thing is the one rule I keep coming back to β€” you should be tracking something within ten seconds of opening it. Thank you for giving Dots a try after the others! β€” Dots dev πŸŒ•πŸŒŸ

Good Review

Very Good App

Exceptional, no nonsense app

Sensational organisation app. The minimalism is absolutely perfect for people who actually want to track their habits without the faff. My ADHD makes organisation challenging and over the year I’ve tried countless apps that claim to help β€œneurodivergent people” or be β€œperfect for those who procrastinate.” They end up being made for quick cash grabs or having a wildly confusing interface that is overwhelming and challenging to navigate.

With Dots, you get exactly what you download. All your habits trackable in a range of formats (card, list, calendar form) so you can check them off in the one you prefer. You can also add the widget to your home screen so you can cross habits off during the day without having to open the app. There’s no paywall, no ads, and it’s beautifully minimalistic. Everything I needed I am so thankful that I found this.

Simple Pretty Flexible and Shill-free

Thank you. Eager next for notification and donation options.

Response from developer

Thank you πŸ™ That means a lot. Good news on the first one: per-habit reminders are already in β€” open a habit in the editor and flip on the reminder toggle to pick a time and days πŸŽ‰ A tip jar isn't there yet, but you're not the first to offer and I'm genuinely touched β€” noting it πŸ“ β€” Dots dev πŸŒ•πŸŒŸ

So far so good

Just set myself up with about 8 habits. I lose interest in things if they’re too complicated when I’m setting myself up for ease. This was pleasantly straight forward. Will use this for a while for my morning routine and see how it goes. Thank you for the simplicity!βœ¨πŸ’–βœ¨

Response from developer

This made my day πŸ₯Ή Keeping setup dead simple is the whole point of Dots, so hearing you got through 8 habits without friction is the best feedback I could ask for. Good luck with the morning routine ✨ β€” Dots dev πŸŒ•πŸŒŸ

Great app for tracking habits.

As a person who loves seeing the progress day by day, the dots are great and also aesthetically pleasing.

Simple & nice

Very simple looking and easy to use, no ads or unnecessary features

Response from developer

Thank you πŸ™ No ads and no unnecessary features is a deliberate choice β€” and honestly it's reviews like this that keep me resisting the urge to pile more on πŸ˜„ β€” Dots dev πŸŒ•πŸŒŸ

Near perfect

Fantastic app. Visually slick, simple to use and free with no ad distractions etc..

Only missing feature would be to incorporate some sort of notes/comments section for your habits to help track progress.

Free and has widgets

Title explains why I like it. I have not found others that have both. One feature I would like to see is the calendar progress tracker, but instead of only 1 habit you could see up to 4 at once and have each habit take up 1/4 of the box. Or maybe the wider widget but make it so you have several habits stacked on top of each other (imagine a table with the date on the top and the habit on the side). What I am trying to say is I would like to be able to see the progress of multiple habits from my Home Screen without using multiple widgets. Great app.

Response from developer

Thank you πŸ™ Free + widgets is exactly the gap I built Dots for. One thing you may have missed: the Quick Habits widget already puts 4 habits in a single tile, each one tappable πŸŽ‰ But a multi-habit history grid β€” dates across the top, habits down the side β€” is a different thing, and a really good idea. Noting it πŸ“ β€” Dots dev πŸŒ•πŸŒŸ

Free & functional !

No obnoxious free-trial trick. Actually free, easy to use & aesthetically pleasing. It didn’t have options for reminders & shuffling the order of your habits, but it does now! -Even more happy with it. Truly a perfect simple little app.

Love it

Great app, helps motivate me to be productive. I just wish there were more task icons. For example: News article/ Newspaper, Languages (Spanish & Chinese), Broom, Custom (choose your own emoji). Thanks!

Response from developer

Thank you so much πŸ™ Good news β€” this update adds a batch of new icons (pets included 🐾), so there should be a lot more to pick from now. And if there's a specific icon you'd still like to see, just tell me and I'll add it πŸ“ Really glad Dots is keeping you productive! β€” Dots dev πŸŒ•πŸŒŸ

Great app

Absolutely the best app out there. Absolutely free to use. Love this.

The best free app for Habit tracking!

By far the most simple app for tracking your habits. Very intuitive and easy to use. Highly recommended!

Response from developer

Thank you β€” "the best free app for habit tracking" might be the nicest thing I've read all week! πŸŽ‰ Simple and intuitive is exactly what I'm going for, so this means a lot. Thanks so much for recommending Dots πŸ™ β€” Dots dev πŸŒ•πŸŒŸ

Cool OLED and Minimal Design

Thanks for free unlimited habits, please add description, x times per week features to habits.

Love this App!

I’m tracking no alcohol, no peanut butter, daily crunches… it’s fun and helpful to see success. I love the heat map and other views! Thank you!

Response from developer

This made my day β€” thank you! πŸ₯Ή No alcohol, no peanut butter, daily crunches… I love that Dots is part of that, and I'm so glad the heatmap and the different views are clicking for you. Thanks for taking the time to write this πŸ™ β€” Dots dev πŸŒ•πŸŒŸ

Providing Noticeable Feedback

The menu bar at the bottom blocks views if you have 9+ habits it’s hard to see the last habit because of the menu bar blocking the view. I’m not tracking anything crazy. Waking up without a phone, stretch, workout, skincare, journal, play game, drink water, sleep 8 hours, walk, & vitamins c intake. Backlogging data manually is a little hard because every time I left the app to look at my data in screenshots the calendar of each habit would disappear (not the data). I did it albeit the fact it took a lot of time. The look and feel of the app is great. Simple seamless. I love each view option. Just some minor drawbacks.

Response from developer

Thank you so much for such thoughtful feedback β€” and for tracking that many habits with Dots! πŸ™ Good news on both: the bottom bar hiding your last habit is already fixed in the latest update, and the per-habit calendar disappearing when you leave the app is now fixed too, rolling out in the next one. Honestly, feedback like yours is exactly what's making Dots a better app β€” thank you so much for taking the time, it truly means the world. πŸ₯Ή β€” Dots dev πŸŒ•πŸŒŸ
