How do you the bow?

I can click my hero but it just skips my turn. Looks like the bow is a melee weapon? Seems fun but it’s frustrating there is no clear way to fully control it.

the mechanics are simple but this game is really challenging (in a good way)!! the graphics are cute and i like finding all the secrets added :)
