Lazy programming

As a service, Dreaming Spanish is fantastic and I use it every day on the website. As an app, the lack of support for running correctly on iPad is just lazy programming, especially when Apple provide all the tools to program for both the iPhone and iPad at the same time. This app, running on the iPad, is left to show as a phone app. I spend most of my time on Dreaming Spanish on my iPad but until it’s properly supported by this app, I can only use the website in Safari.

Duolingo, Memrise, Lingvist Failed, Dreaming Succeeded

I have been trying to learn Spanish since last 5 years or so and have tried Duolingo, Memrise and even paid for Lingvist. I hoped I will finally learn it but none worked really and I dropped the apps soon. It was tiresome. Dreaming gets this right by avoiding the memorising part and writing part. Just watch videos and learn Spanish. That’s how babies learn. I am using Dreaming for 3 months and my interest grew more and more. Now I cant live a day without watching at least 2-3 videos from DS. Kudos to the team for creating the greatest app for learning languages. Keep adding more languages.

Best way to learn Spanish

Initially, I was a a bit skeptical about learning Spanish through this comprehensible method. However, I forgot that as a kid, we never learned the grammar. We accepted the input from our parents, friends, and other sources and understood it through context.

50 hours into the material I can say my Spanish has improved considerably. This is way better than grinding Duolingo for hours without seeing any noticeable difference.

The app allows you to set daily goals and shows you your monthly and overall progress.

I want to thank Pablo and the entire Dreaming for putting in so much effort into this platform. Once I complete Spanish, I will start with the French course. This is amazing!

Best ever

It uses the method of millions of polyglots que it was a YouTube channel that grow into a business

Comprehensible input is the best way to learn a language

I recommend this to everyone who wants to learn Spanish. The grammar courses will not be as enjoyable or useful for learning as dreaming Spanish is!

crashes too often

the learning method seems to work. the app just crashes too often.

The best way to learn

Literally nothing beats this. I went from basically 0 Spanish to B2 in 6 months. Pablo is the GOAT

Degrading their service to be just another app

Dreaming Spanish had a very strong start as a useful and powerful website. That is now being degraded constantly to get people to use this app. It’s less and less a passion project to spread language learning. It’s now just another edutainment app to compete with all the others language apps on the stores. It’s not about spreading language, it’s about growth hacking and getting to the top of the download charts. En**itification has come for Dreaming Languages.

btw, if you’re going to kill your website, at least make a really good app instead of launching half baked with critical features missing like fullscreen viewing or tablet support.

Worth it!

Amazing. For this style of learning to work, try not to overthink and analyse every word. You don’t need to understand what every word translates to - as long as you understand what’s happening. Your brain will fill in the blanks with time. The Spanish videos are better than the French ones. The French videos (specifically Super Beginner) are not as clear, or as well produced - but still good. I’m sure they’ll improve with time. I hope to see more languages in the future!

I love dreaming Spanish!!

Thank you for making this amazing app! It makes it easy and fun to learn Spanish

Almost Perfect

I have been pleasantly surprised to find this app as I have been using the website for almost 2 years now to improve my Spanish. The introduction of an app is something I have been wanting for a long time as it makes it so much easier for me to open a video on my phone instead of on my computer. The different levels of learning are fantastic and all the teachers are brilliant. The topics are engaging and it makes learning a language feel easy and rewarding. A much better (and faster) way to learn languages than apps like Duolingo or traditional teaching.

There are a couple minor improvements I would like to raise. I usually watch videos in order of when they were created so that I can say I have “completed” each level, this was fine on the website as I could track the number of video, however this hasn’t been included on the app to my knowledge. It would be great if a simple number next to the video could be added to show me how many I have completed and how many I have left to watch based on my filter choices.

A second improvement could be to create several viewing modes on the set of videos. In the website you could see multiple videos across the screen, however in the app you can only see one (sort of like scrolling). If there could be a choice to change how many videos you see (to make it easier for me to scroll down to the next video I was watching) that would make my life a lot easier!

Other than these two minor points, Dreaming Spanish has been fantastic for helping me learn a new language. I can’t wait for them to come out with more languages! Chinese is probably going to be my next one after Spanish (a big jump in difficulty!) but I’d love to see Dreaming Languages come out with Chinese in the future. There’s so little comprehensible input online that I worry about how easily i will be able to learn.

I hope these suggestions are useful

AMAZING

just try it… After consistently watching and listening daily every month I see progress with my Spanish. I can now watch series & listen to podcasts and music without English subtitles. The paid version is not required but so worth it & a great way to support the professors/content creators!!!! P.s. While there are some bugs within the app, it doesn’t hinder my learning one bit.

App is missing some features but still GREAT

The app is essentially the website in mobile format. Missing a few minor features but still very very solid and worth supporting. The team takes feedback on not only content, but on how the app works as well. Premium opens up a PLETHORA of new content so it is very worth it. Highly recommend!

No Picture-in-Picture😩😩

This app has 10/10 content, but the lack of Picture-in-Picture support on iPhone is a major drawback. I purchased Premium hoping to watch videos in PiP mode, but only the audio continues playing when I leave the app.

For me, Picture-in-Picture would add tremendous value and make it much easier to fit Dreaming Spanish into my daily routine. It’s one of the few features I feel is truly missing from an otherwise excellent app. I would even be willing to pay extra for PiP support if necessary.

Good way to learn Spanish. Just a bit buggy app

Really excellent way to learn Spanish through comprehensible input. It makes it more fun but the reason I am giving only 4 stars is sometimes I cannot exit the video in the app or the whole app goes dark except for the video then I have to maximize and minimize the video a few times to get the app to work again.

One of the best learning language methods

This should be the automatic way of learning for all children and adults. It is simple fun and easy. I love dreaming Spanish!

Worth it

Finding Dreaming has been the best thing to happen to my language learning journey. It takes time (years) to learn a language and any app telling you otherwise is lying. You have to put in the time but Dreaming Spanish makes it so fun and not feel like work. highly recommend!

Daily habit with real results

I started watching/listening every day on the website about 18 months ago and my Spanish comprehension has grown so much. This is by far the best method for me. The content is engaging and I often exceed my daily goal just because I’m enjoying what I’m watching.

The app has a few advantages over the website: if you turn your screen off, the video audio keeps playing so it’s great for listening on walks and such. I also like the courses section in the app (it seems to be all the videos ordered by relative difficulty).

I hope they keep growing the platform - I’d love to apply this technique to every language I’ve ever had an interest in!

Kinda hooked!

After trying several ways to learn Spanish I decide to give dreaming Spanish a try. I set my daily goal at 30 mins. A week of that and I moved my goal as I was getting much more input than that. I’m up to 2 hours a day and I’m addicted! I’m understanding so much more than I ever have before! The app lets you set your own goals, track progress and how long until the next level. You can hide watched videos if you so choose or go back and rewatch them. It’s easy to sort based on all types of criteria. I’ve recommended this to everyone I know! I have the paid version but the free is just a good! Do yourself a favor and use this if you want to learn Spanish!
